"I would prefer to stay elsewhere"

6.0

We left feeling that we made a bad choice. Stayed on the top floor thinking that there are better sea views (as I read in some of these reviews), but only the front room has nice sea views. The rest of the rooms are facing the mountains, and they not worth climbing 3 floors for. The rooms are nice and clean and the beds are fine, but the wifi is terrible - could not access the internet at all, and when mentioned to the owners they disagreed saying that it works ok and they did not bother to check. I believe they knew that on the 3rd floor there is no reception and they don’t bother to do anything about it. At checkout, they told us they could not accept credit cards (due to a system malfunction!) although we had booked via a booking service using a credit card. Only when we told them that they have no choice - either they accept our cards or we will have to send them the money when we return home, then suddenly the credit card system was fixed by magic and they could accepts our cards. Note that even though the distance when you look at it on the map is not far from the port (restaurants, boats etc), it is actually quite hard to get to it because it is a steep uphill walk. The high cost of accommodation in combination to the low quality of services offered, the uphill walk, stiff towels, no breakfast, no reception, no wifi, well… you get the picture, this place is a motel, not a hotel. If you find it at a bargain price and all other places are fully booked, it would be ok.

"Fantastic stay"

8.0

We stayed at the hotel for 7 days in June 2017. The hotel is handy for the town around a 15/20min walk to the heart of the town. There are 2 ways to get to town, down the narrow road avoiding some traffic or by turning right down a track immediately as you leave the hotel. It is a little rough in places but is a nicer walk. Once you meet the main road cross it but go up hill a little where you will find another small road on your left which takes you into town. The hotel is very clean and the owners are brilliant and will go the extra mile so you have a good stay and room service daily . Although the pool is perhaps small if you like swimming lengths, it is lovely and accommodating. There are some board games to play when the sun gets too hot or just have a drink around the pool. You do not have to go into town to find good eating places, there are some on your right hand side walking into town by road. We ate in both of them and provide really good food at reasonable prices. there are good restaurants at the top of the hill by the castle but some are expensive but the views are fantastic. The boat trips are not to be missed if you want to explore a few of the islands and there is a boat taxi for 2 euros each way from the jetty if you want to go to the larger beach. In the town turn left by the jetty to find sun beds which are free as long as you buy your drinks off them. It is a very beautiful area and the views from the beach, castle and hotel are magic. We will return.
