Sijainti hienolla, historiallisella paikalla. Ystävällinen palvelu.

Kahvi oli kylmää. Muuten hyvä aamiainen.

Perched atop Petrovaradin Fortress and overlooking the river, this is truly an unbeatable place to stay in Novi Sad and fully experience the town. Don’t be discouraged by its elevated position — the city center is easily reached on foot via a charming set of stone steps that descend from the fortress near the bridge. Twilight is the most magical time to linger by the fortress clock and stroll along the ramparts, taking in views of the tranquil river and Novi Sad’s skyline — a pleasing blend of gabled old rooftops and modern apartment blocks. The rooms are full of historic character, with heritage-style fittings that reflect the setting. The minibar is slightly pricey, but everything else more than makes up for it: piping hot showers, plentiful amenities, prompt housekeeping, and a hearty, generous breakfast overseen by the wonderful Ram. The reception team is knowledgeable and responsive. On weekends, DJ-led parties bring a lively, youthful crowd to the fortress for a night of dancing. Yet the sections of the ramparts away from the river remain as peaceful as ever — perfect for quiet reflection.

At present, Novi Sad’s main railway station is closed, and trains operate from Petrovaradin station instead. Taxis waiting there can be overpriced, so it’s worth considering the replacement bus service provided by the railway — just be sure to confirm that it stops near the fortress. Because of the hotel’s secluded location (which is part of its charm), transport requires a bit of planning. Ask the hotel to arrange your taxi well in advance of your train or bus departure, as cars may take some time to arrive. It’s best to stay proactive to avoid any last-minute stress. While the drapes and chairs are visually elegant, they feel somewhat heavy and the upholstery is rather coarse. The room layout, though atmospheric, isn’t especially designed for ease of movement. Natural light can also be limited in the fortress-view rooms due to the historic design, so the space may feel a bit dim during the day. Be sure to make good use of the bedside lighting for a cozier atmosphere — and don’t miss the charming antique rotary phone in the room to call reception. It’s a delightful touch that adds to the overall character of the stay.
