The biggest plus at the Highlander is the staff, They are great and nothing was to much trouble.

For the price paid the breakfast was fair enough. If you want a Marriott breakfast go there a pay for one. The parking is hit and miss, free on the road outside, if you can find a spot. Rooms need updating and the noise from the saniflo style plumbing is very loud. With a little attention to detail the rooms could look a lot smarter rather than DIY flooring and exposed plumbing arould the loo. Ladies will struggle with the hair dryer as there is no mirror in the bedroom near a plug. The hotel has a lift but it doesn't work which is a shame.

Clean, very comfortable, Man who gave us our keys was particularly helpful. Especially with our gluten and dairy free baby. Breakfast was brilliant for her and had everything she needed

Our stay at The Highlander was comfortable, excellent breakfast spoilt somewhat as I had booked a sea view and this was not available. Whether I had made an error or booking,com made an error . It was very disappointing. We would still stay again checking the view room with the hotel.

Location, great view and welcoming

Little dated but fine

It’s in a great location. Superb views in a quiet road that is overlooking the sea. The staff were pleasant enough, the room was huge and the breakfast was great. We paid £64 for the night in a bank holiday weekend so really cheap.

Overall the place needs a really good tidy up. On arriving I could see bar tables in the front courtyard where people were enjoying drinks from the hotel bar. It was a shame that the tables were covered in loads of used glasses though as it put us off wanting to join them. The courtyard is paved but full of weeds growing through all the flags, again, small job but would make a huge difference to the first impressions. We were allocated the Clark suite. This was a huge room with a double and single bed with a full sized bathroom too. It overlooked the bay so the views were delightful. We noticed we had a little balcony too which would have been great had it not been absolutely filthy with other people’s spent cigarette buts thrown in plant pots and scattered all over the floor. The little bistro set out there was not fit to sit on either. The chairs were broken and unsafe and even after I washed the table twice, I still wouldn’t want to put any of my food or drinks on it. You accessed the balcony through the sash window too which is a bit strange to me. These windows were open when we arrived so the room was airy but we would have liked to keep them open through the night too as it was one of the hottest days of the year but all the other rooms on that level could access your room as the balcony was shared. This made for a very very hot night as there is no air con or fan in the room. The carpets were full of stains too so I felt I needed to keep flip flops on throughout our stay. This hotel could be lovely if it was invested on and given a good fettle and spruce up.

Breakfast was average room ok bathroom small in all the hotel needed refurbishment lift out if ordered stuff piled against door on second floor fire hazard we wouldn’t stay there again!

A complete refurbishment is needed staff didn’t help us with luggage as we were on the second floor lift not working!
