Ballina Beach Resort

We were fortunate to obtain a ground floor level unit in close working distance to the pool. As stairs are a problem with pain for out back and knee issues. The beds were very comfortable for both of us.

To be fair - minded to all guests whether they be a smoker or a non-smoker, to have an allocated covered area with chairs and ashtrays provided for the people who do smoke or vape at your resort. And for everyone's consideration to have a specific area for smokers set up more towards the border of the property away from the non -smokers. As we've discovered, majority of accommodation places still like to consider the smokers and continue to provide such allocated areas. Understandably there were signs on the windows at your resort requiring no one to smoke anywhere near the building by 4 meters, that is fair. However, for a smoking guest to certainly abide by this rule and then feel obligated to go to their car and drive out the property all together to smoke making one feel ostracized. Not to mention unsafe when needing to do this at night on your own. There is a way and means to work around situations such as this to ensure all guests feel 100% welcome and comfortable.

We loved the fact that were upgraded to a king room, without even asking. Our room was spacious, cool and comfortable. We enjoyed the quiet and the gentle ambience of the place. the manager was polite and helpful. The layout and the gardens and the pool are all designed to provide a feeling of peace and relaxation. Although not actually on the beach, as the name would suggest, it was only a short walk to the beach over grass, with two easy road crossings, and then a path up a small dune to get to the beach. Once on the beach you are right on Ballina Beach, which is lovely. Alternatively, if you want gentle waters, you can walk to Shaw’s Bay - great safe spot for kids to swim. Even with the back sliding doors to our ground floor unit open, we generally felt quite private due to the various plants and palms.

There wasn’t anything not to like, as such, but a couple of minor things to mention…the unit was rather gloomy inside due to a lack of natural light being able to get through. But there were plenty of lights. Although there were sections of the building that looked like they were a grill, or other function rooms, the place was a bit “dead”. This didn’t bother us at all as we didn’t need any of that. I was wondering if it is a symptom generally of any decline in demand for resorts such as these. The key things that we needed however were all functioning well so we were really content.
