The Sands Khao Lak by Katathani

The hotel does not pay the promised refunds in case of cancellation. I had made a prepayment but had to cancel my booking. According to the booking terms, the prepayments are to be refunded entirely, but the hotel has not given a refund after 70 days. After a dozen reminders, they just keep saying, "The refund is under process." The hotel clearly scams customers who have made a prepayment but must cancel the booking. All cancellation terms were followed in this case.

I really liked this resort the location was fantastic with the shops, restaurants and bars of Khao Lak within easy walking distance. Bang Niang Market is about 15 to 20 minutes walk or a 5 min cab ride away . The resort sits right on a lovely beach and had several pools including a children's pool and an adults only pool. We could always find a sun bed when we wanted to use them. The facilities seemed really good and the food we had was of a good quality and at breakfast there was always plenty of choice. The room we had was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. It had a large balcony with reasonably comfortable chairs and an outside fan to help keep you cool . The staff at the resort were always very helpful, friendly and polite. I would definitely stay here again

Had a swim-up room. Great when you have a 6 months + a 3.5 year kid. Grat area for families with kids. Amazing staff and service. Close to the Tsunami memorial and the night market.

We are a family of 4 (children aged 6 and 9) who have spent four nights at the sands. We were extremely satisfied with the cleaning, activities for the children and easy access to the local town. The pool area was really nice for mixed age groups. The beach was child-friendly and clean. It was easy to get sunbeds (4 pieces) even though we arrived at 10.30 am to the children's pool. The breakfast buffet was nice and the service was also satisfactory.

This was my second stay at this property and it was another great one. The family rooms are spacious and have most things you need. We opted for the oil access in the Aqua wing and it was a great experience. Breakfast is amazing, wonderful food and choices galore. Loved the fish feeding experience daily for the kids We had lunch at the the Manta Ray and Coconut/Talat and it was lovely. Great portions. We also ate dinner at the Floating Market for a special fire show evening which was lovely . The areas of improvement would be that some of the paths are a little dangerous for kids/older people. Need grates over holes etc. Also the fact that the Jellyfish bar is the only place to get draft beer and they ran out was disappointing. Would also be handy to have a bottle opener provided in the rooms.

It was our wedding anniversary and The Sands specially decorated the bed and provided a sponge cake to help us celebrate. We stayed in a ground floor room with direct pool access and it was great for our two young boys. They were 3 other pools as well with the kids pool being a favourite. The resort has direct beach access and is an easy walk to the main stretch of Khao Lak with great dining options and local shopping. Breakfast had a wide selection which easily catered for our varied tastes. The staff were amazing and the rooms were comfortable and clean. We enjoyed an amazing sunset on Christmas day and wished we could have stay longer. We were exceptionally lucky with the weather which was a bonus.

Lovely resort well thought out for children and adults. Separate pool for adults and breakfast also separate for the adults. Lots of very friendly staff. Lifeguards at all the children's pools safety was paramount. Washing facilities available for clothes however one machine out of 3 was out of order so often a queue to get washing done. Food very good although same offering every day. Buffet breakfast excellent.

If you have kids this is a great option! The mini waterpark was great fun. The beach front is also nice and there are loads of sunbeds as well as three pools. Super kid friendly and our teen two-bedroom suite with bunk beds for the kids was perfect.
