Luz Del Mar

Hotel is great. Room we had was a suite, very spacious, clean, with two balconies with nice sea views and a nice hotel pool just a few meters away. Staff is very welcoming and helpful. Hotel is located at a nice quiet spot, not too touristy, easily accesible, and a short drive (15min) from a lovely town of Garachico. I warmly recomend staying at this hotel, we loved it.

This hotel is characterized by a beautiful landscape, big and comfortable rooms, a nice swimming-pool and spa, a good restaurant and a great staff. They all are really kind and helpful. Their aim is to make happy all their customers. It is not a five-stars hotel but it is better than many of them. I am really glad to stay here and I will come back.

We spent a bit over one week in this hotel and hiked almost every day. We really enjoyed how well thought the whole hotel and the rooms were. The concept of the hotel was great, with most rooms with a different small garden or terrace and nice landscaping around. Everyday it was a pleasure to walk to the breakfast room down the stairs outside and enjoy a view on the sea coast. In the evening we enjoyed seating outside in our tiny garden. Our room had a very useful kitchen area, and a heated floor in the bathroom that we enjoyed as the weather was not always the best. There is a pool that we used as often as the weather permitted. The water is solar heated. We did not use the fitness room next to the pool. The village itself at the coast is not especially charming, but the original village a bit above the hotel is typical and we loved to walk uphill to have a drink at the main place or to stop there after a hike in the mountains and observe the locals. For people who love nature and quiet and do not plan on staying at the pool with entertainment the whole day and do not mind walking some stairs, this is absolutely the best place. Most others in the hotel were hikers like us and most spoke German, some French. The staff was very nice and most spoke German very well, we did not try other languages.

This is a lovely little hotel in a nice quiet area,great for peace and relaxation. The rooms are very spacious, well furnished with a modern kitchenette and clean. They have a lovely balcony with a great view. The food in the restaurant is nice and the staff are friendly and polite.

An efficient German operated hotel, mainly used by Germans, with good facilities and good service standards, especially the restaurant. Rooms are spacious and equipped with simple kitchenettes. However, the hotel located in the suburban area of a small town about 200 meters from a rocky cove and many miles from any distinctive tourist attractions.

Superbly run hotel with great staff, good food and excellent recently refurbished accommodation in a very good location away from the main tourist areas but with a range of great facilities. The only concern would be that the hotel is on about 4 levels with many steps and only a lift for the first level. Excellent secure car park. The best golf course on Tenerife is only 10mins away.

unfortunately we did not have enough time to enjoy this wonderful hotel. Being on a trekking tour we left early in the morning and came back in the afternoon only... But what we experienced was really good. The room and bathroom were clean and spacious, the balcony had a wonderful view to the seaside. The hotel is far enough away from the really touristic places but close enough to take a walk at the beach. The pool area is clean and nicely furnished, the fitness room small but on the other hand, when you go walking in the mountains, how much additional fitness do you need? As half board tourists we enjoyed the rich breakfast buffet and dinners varying from day to day.

After being on that island in 2003, in a tourist factory (or should I say "farm", beee?) on the southern coast, we were not sure to return. Luckily, there is a north coast as well - much more authentic, with human-sized tourism. The price to pay - cloudy weather - is no big deal for the luxury of not being branded or color-coded with some funny wrist strap, and fed on lasagne with horse meat (pony for children)! Now, Luz del Mar is a great compromise between rural tourism and a resort - you have a (virtually) own two-room bungalow, it's in a residential area in Los Silos (not much to do outside of the hotel - enjoy the silence) but also has an excellent restaurant and a great, heated swimming pool. SInce we wanted to have dinner & swimming on the spot, for the kid (8-year old), we chose Luz del Mar instead one of the nice Fincas in the region. That was worth the significant additional expense, especially in the context of the strange local climat: in the evenings, after returning from hiking, temperatures were rarely above 19° (by contrast, count - mid April - some 28+ on the south coast... and some 25 at 2300 m, in the volcano caldera!) So, the heated swimming pool made a huge difference (note that the ocean is quite chilly - some 19 as well, fine for one swim if motivated, but hardly more). Unlike in Bavaria, the "official" language in this Bundesland Tenerife Hotel is, natürlich, German ;-). That fitted us well, our Spanish being poor - but English and French are fluently spoken too (and German staff are fluent in Spanish, of course). Meals were great, (we had no half-board, but sometimes we picked items from the daily menu offered to half-boarders, especially when it came to local dishes). They have a large selection of local wines, too - so, one really feels like in Tenerife, not like in an airport hotel. So, all's possible in Tenerife, after all!

This is not a place to party but one to get away from the crowds. We certainly liked its location but you better have a rental car. Closest restaurants are a few minutes drive away. The hotel was well run by German management and serves mostly German hikers who enjoy guided or individual hikes. The units are set on different levels, the highest is the most quiet. The pool area was sizeable for the number of units and you can enjoy the view towards the mountains while sunbathing. Unfortunately, there was no pool service available. Breakfast buffet was sufficient but not spectacular. It lacked fresh OJ and a larger variety of bread. We did not like that they charge for internet access (EUR 1/hour or EUR 5/week). Overall, the hotel area was super clean and were happy travellers..
