The Hyde Dovecote, Kinver

Tucked away in the beautiful countryside, this renovated dovecote was truly special. Silent, relaxing and picturesque. We enjoyed the short stroll along the river to the village centre where we were made to feel very welcome and we also enjoyed great food and local ales.

The standard of decor and facilities was very high. The welcome basket of basics was much appreciated.

Only the bumpy track, and need to be eagle-eyed to spot the small road sign. Oh, and Google maps has no idea how to give the correct route!

would have preferred a bed to a sofa bed

I had a really lovely stay. Kinver is beautiful and peaceful so very good for getting on with writing. The host was extraordinarily kind and actually picked me up from Stourbridge station because no buses run on Sundays to the village. The building was clean and comfortable and unique. The hosts live just across the drive, and they were on hand immediately for anything. They came to adjust the heating for me in the middle of the night (which is beyond what I could reasonably have expected). They also came to my rescue, again late at night, when a bat inadvertently flew through an open window (not something that has happened before, by the way, just one of those one off things). Both hosts were extraordinarily kind and helpful and I would love to come again.

I would like to have been able to adjust the heating myself, but this wasn't a big deal.

Loved its shape and quirkiness.

If I’m being completely honest it would be better with a bed as opposed to a sofa bed, that being said it was the best sofa bed we have slept on!! Also a couple of more comfy chairs to sit as did not want to sit on the bed.
