"Worn Furnishings in a Peaceful Setting"

8.0

I have mixed feelings about this stay. It is hard not to compare it to other cottages I've stayed in while in Ireland at the same price point. Where there is a basic welcoming basket with bread, eggs, salt and pepper. There is nothing of the sort here. There were a lot of rules posted around that seemed a bit much compared to the condition of the cottage. The beds were not comfortable, but the bedding looked newer. There was an electric carving knife, but no hair dryer. There is no dishwasher, but there was a washer/dryer combo. The drying rack upstairs was broken, but there was a clothes line outside. The patio chair was broken, but the picnic table was nice to sit at. The weather was wonderful during our stay. The couch just needs to be replaced. The coverings they had on it didn't stay in place and was also stained. The fireplace was nice and we had a cozy fire one evening when it rained. The communication via texting was great and offered clarification on the information posted. It seems to be outdated. It was also nice to have someone to contact for questions on the area as this was my first time staying in this part of the country. The condition of the property is sorely in need of some attention. If you are wanting something more refined, you may not be happy here. If you can live a few days with a worn, outdated property, you might just love the peacefulness from sitting outside listening to the birds.
