"excellent value for money"

8.0

We booked a room for 35€ (1 night, two people, no breakfast, shared bathroom) and expected nothing much. however, we were positively surprised on arrival, the shared bathroom was tiptop clean. room was small, but we had a good nights sleep. we would stay there again.

"It was perfect for us in Dol"

10.0

I would take issue with some of the other reviewers of this hotel. Firstly, someone complaining that €55 for an ensuite room is expensive (we paid basic €58 actually and we thought we got a good deal)- where can you get cheaper in Dol or indeed in many places? Secondly, that the hotel is old fashioned- well we like that! In our view, it has loads of charm. Anyway, we paid total €143.40 for two nights B&B and we thought we got an excellent deal. Very comfortable bed, pleasant welcome, very quiet, right outside the train station where we had just got off a train, handy for the town, as good a breakfast as you normally get in France, what was not to like? Also, a little plug for Dol, if you like walking go to the Tourist Office and get the €2 folder of local waymarked walks and you are in lovely countryside in no time. And we liked the Restaurant Flambee. Oh, and we include a photo of the wet garden that has been created in the river valley nearby.

"Good base"

6.0

The convenient location near the train station, brilliant because we visited Dinan, Mont St Michel and St Malo. The very obliging hosts were very understanding when we needed to cancel one night of our planned stay. The room was small and the bathroom was dated but a good size. Wifi was fine. No lift but that was overcome with excellent assistance with luggage.

"Nice bar. Room needs a bit of a lift"

6.0

At €55 a night for no breakfast this hotel is not great value. We did pay extra for an en-suite room. The bedroom is quite small, being July it was very hot. A fan in the room would have helped. The bathroom has a good shower and wc / sink. Could have done with few touches. Nothing was provided not even a bar of soap. The staff are friendly and keen to help despite my very poor french. The bar downstairs is nice, has live horse racing if you fancy a flutter.

"A quiet and welcoming hotel"

A small but very clean and inexpensive hotel.Next to the railway station but very quiet. Very pleasant proprietor and niece who made us very welcome. Easy walk into the centre of Dol and parking in the station car park.

"Friendly"

10.0

I was traveling alone and had no structured itinerary. I just found the city on the map and went to the city. I booked the hotel online and could only hope that everything would go well. I entered the hotel and met Christophe, owner/operator of the hotel. I could not speak French and he only spoke French so we were not able to communicate that well at first. Christophe also had a saloon in the same building and I brought my laptop into the saloon and through Google Translate, we were able to converse and we became friends. He is a first class man and was really nice to me. We drank celebrated with a Calvados each and when I moved on after a few days I decoded that I had made a friend. THe hotel was clean, priced right, just off the train station, walking distance to the town. Fun little city.
