Casa Rural Monte del Agua

The flat, in a converted local house with three units, has its own patio and, a rarity, a gated parking lot. It is located in a small village about 1000m above sea level. This means that mornings (and at times during the day as well) it is, literally, in the clouds. It has 1m thick walls and traditional windows that are well insulated. Nevertheless, the flat can be chilly, but there is central heating that works well (not a given in the Canaries) and Ismael, the owner was generous in turning it on. Ismael is charming and very very helpful. He offered to have fresh bread delivered each morning and switched the order to whole grain bread when we asked. The flat is spotless and although there is no washing machine, he offered to do the washing for us. He was also very forthcoming in offering advice about walks (the Monte del Agua walk is great) and local eateries.

Complete little house. Comfortably heated, which is necessary at 1000m (10 degrees during day in Jan). Quiet location, good host. Close to Masca and good hiking spots.

Bit dark, small windows. There are 2 or 3 different apartments here, one has better view than we had. Perhaps ask for that one. Cold on the mountain.

Ismael is the best host! He showed us around and every morning there was fresh bread outside our door. The apartment is a beautifully renovated old house, very clean! This place is perfect to explore the Montaña del Agua amongst other places and hiking trails in the area.
