Fögruvallakot Cabin

The property was sort of in the middle of nowhere where but it was alittle difficult bc of lack of daylight and snowy conditions. We had instructions which were helpful. Beautiful area, mountain setting, liked the hot tub, horses near by and cabin was very warm when very cold outside. Comfortable lodgings

The cabin seem to be a storage place for extra belongings if the owner- drawers were full with various personal belongings and the cooking element was a burner that you had to move to the kitchen. Could not have various electrical plugged in at one time- would cause Power to go out but fuse box was in hall. Alittle junky with extra stuff and maybe a shed of some kind of storage needs to be created to give the guest more room to be in the space, store their belongings. The driveway for the cabin was often blocked by a car and daily we had to try our best to maneuver around it when we pulled out- sort of forgot they had guests staying in their cabin I guess.

Our group of 4 really enjoyed the location - very quiet, off the beaten track with superlative views of Hekla, a river winding along the back of the property and Icelandic horses to pet. In addition very conveniently placed as an entry point into the Highlands. This is what appealed to me enough to book in the first place. Property was clean, well equipped and we used the hot tub which was perfect after a long day.

I would say the rooms are very small and be prepared to drive a gravel road to reach the cabin, but that’s all.

The drive from town can get a bit far, but if you want peace and away from people, it is well worth it. One part of the road may require an SUV if its raining
