Flower Garden

I really enjoyed my stay, it was a completely different experience than other places I've stayed in Japan. The area has a slightly spooky, Alabama-esque feel. Maybe it was becouse of the goat outside my window, maybe the American-style buildings, or maybe, aside from meeting the lovely owners once at check-in, I didn't see a single person during my one-night stay. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable, and the air conditioning worked flawlessly (as did the Wi-Fi) a big plus for the fridge in the room (there are no shops at the area, I recommend buying some sandwiches etc earlier). It was the cheapest option I could find in the area, a bit pricey for the standard, but considering the spooky vibe (which I liked), I can't really complain. My destination was the Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine, and it was a 30-minute walk. It's about an hour's walk from the train station. It's also a 15-minute walk from the coolest old-school samurai-style restaurant I've ever been to.

Je n'ai pas vu de fleurs. Équipements défraîchis. Baignoire crade. Eau chaude SDB quasi inexistante. J'ai eu droit a une minuscule serviette jetable pour mon séjour de 3 jours. Personnel invisible. Rien a manger a des km a la ronde en ce fin de mois d'octobre. Il y a 4 bus par jour depuis et vers takamori (ou 45 minutes a pied)

建物は立派ではありませんが、ペンションのオーナさん？（ママさん？）が終始笑顔で気分良く宿泊できました（しかも美人でした笑）。 今回は素泊まりでしたが、食事も頼んでペンションオーナとの食事中の接点があったらよかったな、、、とも思いました。次回にまた阿蘇エリアに来た際には是非お邪魔します。

お部屋にTVがあると良かったです。建物のつくりが立派ではないペンションなので仕方ありませんが、室内の音が通路に漏れるので夫婦やカップルの方方は気を遣うかもしれません。自分的には問題なかったです。

Very cozy room with a really friendly hostess. The hostess prepared a meal for me despite the restaurant being closed. In fact, all the restaurants in the viscinity were closed and it was raining heavily, so that was kind of a life-saver. I was in the area mostly to visit the Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine, and for that the location is as good as it gets. Buses go from Takamori station to the hotel every hour, but you could also walk (about 3.5 km). Shared bathroom and shower/bath, but I never noticed any of the other guest ( if there were any ). Everything was clean. The only issue was that only a tiny towel was provided. If you can, bring your own. Should be higher rated than it currently is, very nice place with a nice atmosphere.

I booked a 2 night stay at Pension Flower Garden in end of November 2022. Overall, the stay was good. I booked a room with a single bed. The room came with a small TV, a small side table. The bathrooms and shower shared. The facilities was very clean and orderly. There is a hot water kettle upstairs so I brewed my own coffee with Nestle instant coffee. There is a common area downstairs with a cozy feel. The place was built very long time ago so the owner did her/his best to keep it nice and cozy, which I thought was done nicely.
