Ambiente Budget Accommodation

Generally the room had what you needed to get by for a night. It is one of the cheaper options in the area but has been a very cheap house conversion that has cut corners.

The room I stayed in was around the back of the house. The house appears to have been a conversion to 3 units and behind the cupboard in my room is an old doorway which appears never to have had a door installed. You sometimes get interleding rooms in guesthouses where you at least can't hear very much of what is happening next door. Here, they have tacked on a flimsy little bit of plywood that has zero sounddeadening effect. You hear everything next door, including the 5 minute "performance" of the exhibionists staying there. The grounds were under renovations still so it was a bit of a building site and I had to call to find out how to get into the place. The manager/owner forgot to send these through before. All in all, not somewhere I would recommend and I sought alternative accomodation after coming out of the Kgalagadi.

Just what we needed

The place was larger and better equipped than expected - there was a microwave, kettle, cutlery and crockery, fridge, fresh towels, etc.. We had a good and comfortable stay despite the weather being really cold. It did not bother us, though, as the flat had aircons and a heater and the water in the taps was really hot, so we were able to have a hot shower/bath. our cars were covered in frost in the morning, but we slept warmly and comfortably inside. Overall it is a great value-for-money place.

Pretty straight-forward check-in and check-out, and everything was exactly as communicated. Well done to the host and onsite assistant. The place was really clean too.

The hot-cold shower mixer is a little sensitive, so its difficult to find a balance of lukewarm water for showering. It should be an easy fix for a plumber or handyman. Otherwise, the place was perfect, thank you.
