I booked Weedingshall Lodges last minute via Booking.com and was shocked to discover upon arrival that the only entrance is shared with a cemetery. You drive through the main gates of Grandsable Cemetery, pass several graves, and only then reach the lodges via a side path. This was not mentioned anywhere in the listing. As someone who suffers from coimetrophobia (fear of graveyards), this caused severe distress. I could not stay at the property due to its close proximity to graves, which are clearly visible along the entrance path. I contacted the host immediately to explain the situation and express my concern that something this important wasn’t disclosed. They were completely dismissive and told me to take it up with Booking.com. No apology, no accountability, no attempt to resolve the issue. Booking.com later confirmed that it’s the property’s responsibility to list any significant nearby landmarks, including cemeteries. Yet this information was missing entirely. The map on Booking.com also failed to show the graveyard, unlike Google Maps. After driving over 10 hours to get there, we had to urgently find another hotel late at night. This was a stressful and avoidable experience. I will be requesting a refund, either via Booking.com or my bank. If you’re sensitive to your surroundings or would rather not stay next to a cemetery, avoid this property. Sadly, it was a one-star experience for us.
