Tucked away on a quiet, historic street, it offers a rare sense of calm where time seems to slow down. With only three beautifully designed rooms, the balance between traditional Kyoto aesthetics and modern comfort is perfect. The staff—especially Sae, Shin, Rachel, Lee, and Shiori—were incredibly kind, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our stay. More than just accommodation, Muan is an experience of serenity, care, and authenticity. Highly recommended.

This hotel was truly quiet and sophisticated luxury. They take care of you from beginning and have thought of everything. Located off the main strip on a quiet, quintessential Japanese street, convenient, but serene. The ryukan itself is absolutely breathtaking in its simplistic bamboo clean aesthetic. I sound like I was paid or I do this professionally, but I definitely don't and definitely wasn't sponsored or paid. I came to Japan with a friend to travel around and someone canceled, so we got lucky and booked this place. I have traveled the world and I can easily say this was one of the nicest hotels/lodgings that I have ever stayed at. Aesop shampoo/conditioner/soaps, highest quality turkish feeling towels, heated floors, top quality teas and Japanese liquors at the quaint, quiet bar. The staff was so friendly and kind. Seriously amazing experience. I cried when I left.

Soggiorno veramente fantastico in una zona di Kyoto che ti fa respirare il vero Giappone, la struttura è stupenda e lo staff è stato fantastico aiutandoci e dandoci consigli molto utili, se cercate un posto dove soggiornare anche solo per qualche giorno è decisamente la prima scelta!

The place was so beautiful and was true authentic Japanese culture and style. Beautiful, relaxing and the breakfast was delicious! I can’t say enough wonderful things about the staff…..they were the best!! Did not want to leave! Can’t wait to go back and bring my other daughter!!
