"Over priced lack lustre basic accomodation "

4.0

This was a much needed couples break. Wells next -the-sea is a beautiful norfolk seaside. The photos really sold the place to us, it was a Bank holiday weekend, so expected to pay a little more. Over ยฃ700 for a three day break in accommodation I would be moaning about paying ยฃ70 a night. 1 double bed, 2 wicker chairs and a desk crammed in to a small room. The chairs are too small for adult size. The bifold doors leading to a sink, w/c and shower is very crammed in. Instead of the advertised rainfall shower, we had a shower head with a mind of it's own, you literally have to hold it in place as it wants to go any direction but over you. The conversations from the room above on the first night were as if they were in the same room. When the family room was fully occupied, it was like a herd of elephants had moved in. With their constant stomping and running to their dogs yapping, zero respect from them, sound proofing would have been preferable but thin walls and no protection from above meant the comfortable bed could not be enjoyed. Breakfast is a 5 minute walk away, shame they don't take advantage of the space there and at least provide continental for those not fussed to walk down for a cooked breakfast. Was so looking forward to the trip, just don't book it in the annex building

"Bad Experience"

4.0

My Partner and I stayed at the Arch House Rooms on Saturday evening, 18th May 2024 (room 31). We were very disappointed with our room. It reminded us of a room in a cheap bed and breakfast. The room was very tired and in need of a complete renovation. There was a tiny cupboard in the room that was meant to be a wardrobe, and the carpet and curtains were dated (and curtains didnโ€™t fit properly). The bathroom was uncomfortably small with hardly even room for a small sink and toilet. The entrance to the building was shabby as was the conservatory where you had access to the key safe and the corridor to the front door. Rubbish bins outside were overflowing. We have stayed at other properties in the area at comparable prices and frankly we donโ€™t know how a price of ยฃ200 upwards for one night can be justified for a room of this size and poor quality. We have written to the hotel management but received no response.

The stay overall was good, but plenty of niggling issues. The coffee maker didn't work The bed sagged in the middle and was not comfortable The heating was off completely, and we did have a couple of cold nights The milk in the fridge for the coffees, was out of date And it wasn't clear how far we had to walk from the Arches to the breakfast. Not ideal

Great location, and room was fine, but were dead bugs on the blind and kept up by creaking floorboards from next room - sounds dramatic but was so loud.

Weather was poor but room was warm. The Globeโ€™s restaurant was great for breakfast and evening meal with friendly staff. The accommodation is well positioned in beautiful Wells with lots to see and do in the area.

We loved our weekend break at The Globe in Wells next the Sea. Despite the chilly weather we made the most of exploring Wells, walking down to the lifeboat station then along the beach to Holkham Hall for lunch and back. Beautiful place to visit if you like wildlife too, would definitely recommend and the food at The Globe is excellent.
