Nílu Isla Mujeres by Selina

I'm writing this at 1AM on my 9th night at Selina Poc Na Isla Mujeres. I’m completely unable to sleep because there is throbbing bass mingled with shouting voices tearing into my room — which is about 200 feet from the hostel’s restaurant where the music is coming from. Parties happen at this location regularly, but they are usually easy to sleep through. NOT TONIGHT. The worst part about this is that I walked downstairs to talk to the staff about it, and everyone I spoke to LAUGHED AT ME. To be clear: these parties are AT Selina, and are hosted by the hostel itself. There are maybe 10 or 15 people at the party right now, and they aren't evening staying at Selina. Selina has prioritized their enjoyment of this party over the comfort and happiness of the guests who have paid for a place to sleep for the night. We had fallen IN LOVE with this place — great (daytime) staff, great poolside restaurant, clean rooms, PERFECT. Up until tonight. We’ve been here for 5 of these parties — and we thought we were used to it! It was mellow dance music, reasonable volume, and we could sleep through them. Tonight, a Sunday night, it’s beyond awful. The hostel provides ear plugs — but they are not enough! It's SO LOUD on the opposite side of the hostel grounds, it’s impossible to sleep even with earplugs in. Literally everything else about our stay has been absolutely perfect. I was prepared to write five-star reviews everywhere! But not now. I will never stay at Selina again, and you

The staff were super friendly and helpful. The day I arrived and cehcked in the room I was booked into, it was as if the aircon unit had exploded and there was water all on the walls and falling thorugh the light sockets on the ceiling. They then moved me to another room, and then had to move again the next day. Other than this the rest of the area was great and super easy to navigate. Great wifi, the music does go until about 2:30am, I'm a super light sleeper but the ear plugs helped and was able to sleep ok.

overall very disappointing and miss leading. Bathrooms dirty and smell, no laundry service at the hotel, so they only give you 2 towels at once and will NOT give you more unless you return the forty’s. Asked more than three times for a new bed set, refused. One person said he didn’t have the key, one told me to go down the street and pay out of my pocket to wash their bedding after I already paid a lot to stay there for 7 nights. You’d think staying for a week you’d be able to get more than 2 towels and you bed cleaned and changed. Housekeeping was awful, they use the same bedding for multiple sets of guests! Gross! also charged us $45 for a tiny blood spot on the sheet, said they had to send it away for special clean, and accused me of stealing towels. would NOT let us leave until they checked the room and approved it. Definitely will NOT be back or recommend to anyone else to stay here. Not to mention the extreme loud noise and thin walls

Check in was quick for us. We stayed in one of the deluxe rooms, as a majority of the property is hostels. Our room was clean with cold a/c, a ceiling fan, mini fridge and giant TV which we never turned on. Shower had plenty of hot water. Pool was decent, often used for teaching a scuba diving class. Food on site was decent and staff was always present. You do not have beach access staying here but are walking distance from the beach and plenty of shops and restaurants. Nights were always a party (our room had complimentary ear plugs) we didn’t mind the noise. Many different activities to sign up for on site also (yoga, movie night, all you can eat pizza night, mediation, beach clean up and more) We would stay here again as we had no issues. If you’re staying on Isla, pls tip generously, the people are awesome

Great location, cosmopolitan vibe. Bar and pool 5 stars. We will return.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! The staff here are rude and discriminatory to people. Tried to get basic information sorted out when checking in yet treated like trash. Room was filthy and smelt awful. The shared bathrooms were also not regularly cleaned which meant they were always dirty and bin filled with used toilet paper. Facilities are also very poor and not large enough to accomodate all the guests here. Its a hostel so expect noise and lots of it. Overall, this place wasnt worth the money paid.

La estancia en este lugar es muy agradable. El ambiente es muy relajado y tropical. Me gusto la constante limpieza y mantenimiento, además tienen cámaras de seguridad y guardias. Todos los días tienen algún tipo de actividad organizada para socializar entre los huéspedes. En mi estancia perdí mi celular y ellos lo buscaron y me lo entregaron. Altamente recomiendo este lugar!

Beautiful

The property is centrally located so easy to reach everything. Refrigerators needed a good cleaning. Upstairs floors in room get wet when raining. Rooms clean and they still have room cleaners which was nice. Did not like the bar at all. Need to wait in line to buy coupons, then wait in line with coupons to buy drinks and drink prices are not listed . DJ played all the same music so it was boring. Did not use any of the facilities but they are there. A self serve snack area, the bar, a cinema. Kitchen to make your own food, microwave so that was nice.

The property looked great, we just could not enjoy it because there was a storm during the 2 days we were there :(
