Booked as special treat for visit to nearby Thruxton Motor Circuit. Great location, lovely pub & restaurant and friendly staff.

Absolutely amazing place to stay. Well worth the money. Lisa was excellent as were the other staff. Rooms were immaculate, tidy and well presented. Food was excellent and not loads of choices which was good from a waste food perspective. Breakfast was also excellent. Will stay again when down in the area. Thank you.

This place was a great find, reasonably priced and very welcoming, the room was brilliant and very comfortable and clean. The food was spot on and nothing was too much trouble.The room came with breakfast which was freshly cooked to order,this along side the continental really set us up for the day. Best poached eggs ever!

Overall, we loved our stay here. It is a charming Inn with great service and a wonderful restaurant. The wood fired pizzas are phenomenal as well as the breakfast! Great ambiance with wonderfully kind and helpful staff. The rooms have been nicely updated and it is exceptionally clean. The only thing we would caution others about is noise. The rooms are directly above the restaurant/pub and it is open until 11 pm. Since it's an old building the sound travels. You will hear every bit of sound and movement including others moving in and out of their rooms. There is also a very busy road that you will hear from the rooms (our room was the farthest from the road and we still heard it). We are light sleepers so that was a bit challenging for us. We slept with earplugs. We tried to take a nap during the day and there is a school directly next door where the children play and have gym class outside, so that wasn't an option either.

At intervals of a few minutes throughout the evening, what sounded like a heavy wooden door directly beneath my bedroom was repeatedly slammed shut, causing my floor to vibrate. This prevented me from falling off into a deep sleep.

Stayed here for one night after a long flight in from California. It was exactly what we needed to unwind for an evening. The room was beautiful, the pub and restaurant both excellent. The manager of the property (I forget his name) was very personable and fun to chat with. We will definitely stay again at the Dog and Gun in the near future.
