"Very damp and guests have to pay for heating "

2.0

Very, very unimpressed with the heating situation. Only on our way to our property were we informed, by text, that the main form of heating is a log burner - and it was our responsibility to buy logs! The central heating was controlled only by the owner, remotely via an app, so we had no way of turning on, off or up the radiators. The temperature on these was set so low they only came on for a bit in the mornings. So essentially, the owner is making guests pay for their own heating. The whole property, and particularly the master bedroom, smells badly of damp - when we returned home, all our belongings, even including things like books and iPads, reeked of damp and needed washing. This situation is no doubt made worse by the owner’s approach to limited heating. The final straw for us was when we returned the property after a rainy day and needed radiators on to dry clothes. I texted the owner asking him to turn the radiators up for this purpose. He replied that he’d “turned them up to 19 degrees” (!). They didn’t become noticeably hotter - anyone knows to dry clothes you need them hotter than that. In the end we got disillusioned with the whole situation and left a day early. I cannot recommend this property and will certainly not be returning.
