Casa Del Lavatoio

What a fabulous apartment! Right in the heart of the historic centre, adjacent to the medieval lavatoio and with a direct window to the sea. The apartment is so spacious, with a really large kitchen/dining/living area, two large double bedrooms, a bathroom and also a utility room with another toilet in it. It has so much character, but the big arched door/window overlooking the sea has to be the highlight (with another window to the sea from one bedroom, and a window overlooking the lavatoio from the other). The location is great - you step outside the entrance area right into one of the historic streets, with the beach a few minutes walk in one direction, and the historic centre in the other. This is an absolute jewel of a place and I'd love to go back. Our host met us and couldn't have been more helpful (esp as we arrived early).

I'm hesitant to say anything negative as we loved this place and Cefalu in general. It was a bit noisy at night if I left the window open, and a bit hot if I didn't (we didn't use the air con unit).

The view and the very hospitable host!

Great location in the historic centre of town. Beautiful view of the ocean. Plenty of space. Host Guiseppe was great.

There was no waste basket or mirror in the second (lower) bedroom. Plenty of space in the second bedroom- a luggage rack would be nice. Bed frame in this bedroom was loose and squeaky. Floors could have been cleaned much better. Furniture was not very comfortable. North American travellers would appreciate a real toaster in the kitchen (thanks Guiseppe for picking up the sandwich griller, but it doesn't work easily to make toast in the morning). Would prefer not to get hit with the request to pay cash when at the property. That would affect my decision to book the property if I knew when searching for accomodations- I would book an alternate property. Also, a shelf in the bathroom would be a nice addition to put toothpaste/shave kit, etc. on.

This beautifully renovated property is in one of the iconic sea front arches you see in all the pictures of Cefalu. The renovations have maintain the original high ceilings , plastered walls with the rocks exposed in places very tastefully. It is well equipped for those who like to cook. You can hear the waves washing on the beach. The location is excellent inside the old village, lots of restaurants near by. Guiseppie and Laura were excellent hosts, responding right in when needed or for directions.

Parking is tricky as in all small Italian towns. Not the fault of the property at all but be sure to bring lots of Euros for the meters.

It truly is a magical experience to stay in such a historic setting in Cefalù. The apartment has absolutely everything that you need for a comfortable stay, two large double bedrooms with the most comfortable beds that I've ever experienced in a holiday apartment. To sleep each night with the sound of the waves against the shores was so peaceful and truly relaxing. Kitchen has everything you need for cooking and the place was spotlessly clean. The view from the balcony window looking over the sea is just beautiful, and watching the sunset from here was a daily highlight. The property also has a smart TV and comfortable furnishings. Giuseppe the host is really friendly and will help you with anything and makes great recommendations for restaurants etc in Cefalù. I hope to stay again in Casa Del Lavatoio. Grazie Guiseppe.

In the heart of Cefalu, easy access, a wonderful host, Giuseppe. Two beautiful bedrooms. A kitchen a dining room and living room. Adecuately supplied. Nice washing machine. Beautiful viene from the window balcony to the bay and the sound of the sea waves.

Parking a good walk away, but not a negative overall.

Fantastic location, the flat was very comfortable and had everything we needed for our four night stay. Loved hearing the waves at night!
