Sonder Belcourt

Everything was great. I had to take my wife to Vanderbilt for some test and it was the easiest check in I have ever had. The place was nice and clean and the best was very comfortable. I wish the weather had been a little warmer so we could have enjoyed the balcony, but that’s Mother Nature! It was nice to have everything nice and easy when you are there for a stressful reason,

I don’t want to tell everyone just how wonderful my stay was because the selfish part of me wants to keep this spot a secret. But everything about it was literally perfect.

It is with great disappointment I am writing this review. Sonder Belcourt would be a great place to stay due to it location and local environment. But the customer sevice is dishonest and reneging. We arrived at the property with two children, walking into the room smelling weed. The were stains on the bedroom carpet. Right away I contacted customer service. They said there was no room available in the building and asked us to go to another location. We just drove long hours and was very tired, we said no. Then I asked for a discount to cover the parking in the building for the 3 days, they agreed, but put the credit towards next stay. Then I called them stating the credit for next stay is not meaningful since we don't know when we will stay with them again. The guy on the phone then agreed to refund me, but it takes 10-14 days to process. I agreed and said thank you! Now, it is almost a month later, I still have not received a refund or any communication. I don't know why intergrity is not important at all to a global company. Without customer faith and trust, no business will thrive.

Check-in time is 4pm which is an inconvenience if you arrive in town earlier. I had to wait around and upon check-in time, the door was locked from the inside so I knocked and the cleaning lady opened up. She barely spoke English but I understood that she fell asleep on the floor in the living room. I saw a pillow and blanket there on the floor, and the unit was unready for check-in. She still had to mop the bathroom floor and replace the beddings that she used. She apologized and when I reported it to Sonder managment on the app, they also apologized and sent me a small credit to use for the next time I book with them. I know this is probably very unusual but it shouldn't happen in such an exclusive hotel chain where they charge significantly higher rates per night. Also, the jets in the tub didn't work.

This is a charming and well-located apartment — clean, thoughtfully decorated, and overall a lovely space to stay in. That said, there are a few small but important details that, if addressed, would significantly improve the experience. First, there’s no desk or workspace available. For guests who need to work while traveling, this is a real challenge. I ended up having to cancel two full workdays, as working from the couch or bed just wasn’t practical. Adding a small desk would make a big difference for business travelers like me. Second, the bathroom had a few maintenance issues — including cracked tiles and broken drawers that could be unsafe, especially for families with kids. More urgently, the shower leaked and caused some flooding, and we didn’t have enough towels to manage the water. Lastly, a few additional conveniences would go a long way, like hooks in the bathroom for towels or clothes. These are small, inexpensive fixes that would really enhance comfort and functionality. One other note: I paid for a late checkout (2pm), but someone entered the unit unexpectedly around 11:08am — just as I was stepping out of the shower. It was awkward and uncomfortable, and I hope future guests don’t have a similar experience. With these improvements, I’d happily return. I travel to the area often for work, and I’d love to make this my go-to place.
