HOTEL SØMA Sisimiut

- The rooms were clean - The staff were friendly and helpful - The location was very good - I appreciated the free coffee and tea throughout the day

- The front desk list price for this hotel is 1495 kroner for a double bed room with private bath. If this same price was being charged for this same hotel anywhere else, it would be laughable, but because Greenland has such a minimal supply of hotels, people pay it. - The room (#13) was noisy in the morning, starting around 7:00. It was above the kitchen, so this is likely the reason. Noise insulation is a problem at this hotel. - The mattress was badly sunken in the middle, so much that I had to put a pillow under my midsection. My back is in rough shape after four nights. - The restaurant was, frankly, terrible. The cooking was uninspired, but that seemed to be the case for almost every restaurant in town. The daily special was made at about 4:00 p.m. and sat in warming trays with lids for the next three plus hours until they closed. The recipes/cooking weren't great to start, but after sitting for hours, it was even worse. The only redeeming items were the smørrebrød. - Breakfast was supposedly included in the price of the room, but if you wanted bacon or fried eggs, you paid extra. - Please put some different music on in the restaurant. There was a radio station that played only Coldplay for four straight days. I used to like Coldplay. Now...

the only things that could have been polished up a bit were ….a little better mattress and a little larger selection of food
