Ashansa Lagoon Resort

We really enjoyed our 3 nights stay, resort is very nice place with beautiful garden and houses. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. It is close to the turtles visitors center and beach. They helped us arrange a scooter rental.

We had a little problem with cockroaches, it would be convenient to offer a room cleaning for longer stay to avoid that. The breakfast could include something salty like omelette, curry,.. But the sweet breakfast with fruit plate was very tasty.

Fabulous place in a peaceful area. Amazing views over the lagoon. Short walk to the turtle beach. Room was huge and immaculate. Large breakfast. Thanks for the hospitality!

Host was excellent - helpful and organised. Room was very large and very nice. On top floor and a great view. Breakfast was very good and lots of it. We love the area - lots of ponds and lakes - amazing bird life and some fun small bar/restaurants. Swimming not great except in the fishing harbour

Everything was super, location is quiet, not to much tourist or overcrowd. The reception guy who meet us was super helpfull. Arenge as a lot off things like scooter and breakfast sandwich early in the morning before we leave to safari.

This was one of our favorite homestays in Sri Lanka. We booked last minute after a different local hotel cancelled the night before and we're so glad we ended up staying here. There seemed to be 4 rooms, each with a gorgeous view of the lake with large private balconies that had comfy chairs for relaxing in. The rooms were absolutely huge and pristine and had massive comfy beds and plenty of space for hanging clothes. We really appreciated having the fridge, and though there are only small local shops near by the manager sold us bottles of beer from the restaurant that we stored in the fridge and had on the balcony in the evening. Bliss! We also liked the spacious bathroom. The buildings are located in the most lush gardens which are very well maintained by a very smiley, friendly man. The Gardens are also hosts to a beautiful family of grey faced langurs (the nice kind of monkey), chipmunks and so many species of bird it was hard to keep count. A favorite activity was bird watching from the balcony in the early morning. Breakfast was in a raised platform that overlooked the lake and gardens and was so tranquil. We really enjoyed the fresh juice and fruit platters. The location of the accommodation is just a 5 minute walk from the beaches and the manager shared his whatsapp details and was helpful with booking tuktuks and turtle tours. There were peddle bikes available free to use and also kayaks for the lake. We had hired a tuktuk and this area was perfect for learning how to drive it, with long very quiet roads. On the odd occasion we couldn't start the tuktuk the manager was very helpful and supportive and got it started for us without us really having to ask. We didn't catch his name, but the manager was a gem and so very helpful. We only wish we could have stayed here longer! The local village is very quiet and peaceful, so this is the perfect location to really chill and enjoy nature and the slow pace of local life.

It's not necessarily a dislike, but the Sri Lankan breakfast here was just hoppers and rotis with chilli sauce. Some Dahl or eggs or butter and jam to go them would have just made the breakfast little less dry. The juice, fruit and tea were fantastic however and we liked the English breakfast a lot!

We had a great time at Ashansa. The room is very spacious and the bed comfortable. The views are amazing, and the surrounding is very peacefull. The breakfast was incredible. What made our stay even more perfect is the service from Lakshitha. He really understands the concept of hospitality.

No drinking and/or filtered water on premise. You need to get your drinking water elsewhere, which felt a bit weird for a basic necessity.

Very quiet place compared to other parts of the island. Large room, great terrace, friendly staff, good breakfast! The hotel has a large green area, 5 minutes walk to the beach. We were very tired and did not go to see the turtles, but next to the hotel there is a center where organized tours start every day at 20:30.
