Riad-Shakho-Marrakech

The Riad is decorated well. It was clean and the beds were really comfortable. The best thing is that each room has it's own bathroom which meant we didn't have to wait to have a shower! The Riad is well located which meant we didn't have to use the taxi much to get around. We also had a kind lady who came every morning and made us breakfast and cleaned the apartment. Simo, the manager of the Riad, was great in assisting us with things when we needed it.

Finding the Riad was really difficult. At one point we got lost and luckily, some kind gentleman helped us (some of the others wanted money if they were to help us). It's a good thing we were in a group otherwise it would've have been really scary as you have to go through these dark, narrow alleyways where the only source of light is your phone torch. Also, no cars can drop you off outside the Riad as the alleyways are too narrow. It was a 10 minute walk from where our driver dropped us off (outside Cafe Bistro Laksour) to the Riad which was difficult considering the heat and the bags we had to carry.

This is a beautiful Riad. It is centrally located in the Medina and is a quiet, calm place to relax with spacious rooms and an attractive roof terrace. The staff were excellent. Philippe and Simo were very responsive and helped us to organise trips to Essaouira and Quad biking. Salima was kind and friendly and made a lovely breakfast every morning. We liked the fact that we could escape the souks and stay somewhere peaceful. At first we felt a little intimidated by the maze of alleyways leading to the Riad, particularly at night, however it felt very safe and we quickly learnt the way.

Nothing

A very well kept Riad in the centre of the Medina. Very clean and spacious. The owner gave us excellent recommendations on where to eat and what to visit. The house cook, Salima, prepared breakfast for us daily. The manager Simo was there to greet us, provide info about the area and arranged tours and transport for us. If you are looking for a Riad in the main souk this is the one to go to.

Due to the many buildings inside the souk the cell reception was poor when using a local data SIM card.

A stunning Riad, with design interiors, beautiful decorations and a wonderful roof to chill in the afternoon and in the night. The rooms are quite spacious, all of them with private bathroom. The staff was very nice and the breakfast was tasty.

You have to walk 10 minutes from the taxi dropoff, bit for us was not a big problem

The Riad was very modern and comfortable, it was perfect for our group of 6. We really loved all the parts of the house, and the staff was very kind and helpful. Mariam had a simple but delicious breakfast ready every morning at the time we asked for and she then proceeded to clean our rooms. Philippe and Mohamed were there for us if we needed anything and answered our messages really fast. The terrace is the perfect place to hang out and have some snacks together watching the sunset. Perfect private Riad to visit with a group of friends.

We visited in a cold month so we were kinda cold at night, especially in the yellow room as it didn’t get as warm with the AC. But our biggest problem as a group of 6 girls was coming home at night, as the Zoco market is a bit like a labyrinth and we were kinda scared and in a rush to get home as fast as possible because there was a lot of scary man on the way home. I would definitely repeat the stay at Riad Shakho but I would come with male friends aswell to feel more safe in the surroundings.
