Apartment Köln Ensen

Lovely apartment in a quiet residential street. Very clean. Well stocked kitchen. Nice balcony.

Beds were very small and soft. Bedrooms small too.

Location is excellent. Apartment is well designed, clean and comfortable.

I have to say, this has been our most pleasant and comfortable stay in Europe so far. We took up the balcony apartment and the upstairs studio apartment. Both are impeccable, well stocked and provide nice views of the surrounding neighborhood. The spaces are comfortable and it feels like home. There's nothing lacking and they provide more than I would have anticipated. We've been to three countries and four locations, none of which provided as much as we had here. There were more than enough towels, even the kitchen had plenty of towels for dishes, they provided paper towels (a total luxury which we brought from the US and use sparingly). I never got a chance to meet the owner but they're doing an amazing job with these spaces. They have idiot proof recycling information, the lights turn off when you leave saving energy, the water in the shower is a timer type situation which I personally love. The beds were comfortable, it's spacious and it's beautiful.

The bathroom in the balcony apartment was on a sensor with no switch that I could find, so if someone used the bathroom at night, it lit up the space; I know you're thinking "close the room door" but the a/c is located in the kitchen so closing the doors wouldn't allow for air conditioning into the rooms. Also, the a/c is not included. That's something I would have preferred knowing before booking instead of seeing "air conditioning" listed and thinking it was inherent with your stay. The price isn't exorbitant but I'd rather have that cost included without paying separately for the privilege. Although parking is free on the street, be warned that arriving back to the place after 4:30-5pm you might not get a spot. This is a residential area with many driveways or private street spots and parking is chaotic since it's first come, first served.

The apartment lies directly over a pub. Everything there was to like, like good kitchen utensils/equipment is dwarfed by the fact that you and your family will not be able to sleep before the pub closes, which is at 1:00 am on most days.
