Ryokan Fuji Heights

We stayed for two nights with six adults and one baby. The host offered to pick us up from the station, but we didn’t use the service when we arrived. We ran the Mt. Fuji Marathon on Sunday, and this was a great place to stay. We arrived at the station around 12:00 p.m., and it only took about 20 minutes to get to the accommodation. There is a large supermarket just a 5-minute walk away, which was very convenient. The host is elderly but extremely kind. He prepared hot green tea, fruit, and cookies for us. Breakfast costs 1,000–1,500 yen per person and was very good. After the marathon, we enjoyed using the hot spring in the bathroom, which was absolutely fantastic and perfect for recovery. When we checked out, the host gave us a ride back to the station and helped us take photos. He is actually very good at photography. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

We booked it for Mt Fuji Marathon due to it being walking distance to starting point. The location is also strategic to main station, eateries, grocery, and a few attractions. Both air conditioner in the room and toilet bowl seem to be newly changed, so great effort in keeping the necessities in good function. Bath tub with hot water available at night, which is also great for wind down. Luggage storage available before check in. Owner made us felt welcoming, with green tea and snacks offered. There is a Kotatsu (which is a heater underneath a Japanese table) in the room, which makes it very comfortable to sit on the tatami and chill during winter. Price is very affordable, worth every cent of it.

Soundproofing is an issue in traditional ryokan. We had to assemble our own futon as well, and move the tea table around our room in order to place the futon on the tatami. (This might not be for everyone) There were miscommunication about luggage storage after check out, which it was allowed per communicated, but we only find out after check out that were not allowed to be in the common area/ryokan, though we don't see it as a big issue as we've informed we will be leaving an hour after check out.

Lovely old house with traditional tatami guest rooms and a wonderful host! If you are lucky, you might get a room with a view of Mount Fuji :-)

The property is clean and the owner is very warm and responsive in replying my queries. In addition, the location is nearby the bus stop.

The staff was super friendly and helped me store my luggage before and after check in. The kotatsu was a huge highlight, laying under its warmth is the true Japanese winter feeling!
