Hostel Ilha do Amor

Localização, ar condicionado funciona bem e serve comidas deliciosas com ótimo custo e benefício. A equipe é prestativa e a limpeza excelente.

Chuveiro e box ruins e os quartos não têm saídas de ar.

The place is well located.

The room didn’t have any window and no air recirculation at all. This made the atmosphere extremely humid and uncomfortable. We had to leave earlier (and unfortunately did not get any reimbursement) because due to health issues such conditions were problematic.

The location is very central close to bus stop and the shopping area. The hostel is full equipmented of kichen and resting area where to relax and to know other clients. The room are nice, confortable and not noise. Very good price and choise for traveller searching good and lo price. The island itself is a paradise to be know.

The room doesn't correspond to the pictures..I complained with the owner and she said it was damaged by the previous guest so not her fault. Room with no windows, not a good smell, damaged, found mold in the shower and on shower's courtain..shouldn't be on booking, requires renovation. Didn't manage to regulate the shower's temperature, not even with help from staff...so ended up choosing a cold shower instead of a scorching hot one. Mattress and pillow were not very comfortable, changed room from the dormitory for privacy and comfort but ended up getting less. Made an agreement with the owner, who was quite understanding and left as soon as I could.

Cheap room, at walking distance from the town centre, restaurants, bars, supermarkets, gym and hospital. Fridge and lockers in the room. Kudos to Alan, who was always available to solve issues and have a chat (in Portuguese). Had an issue with the aircon, but it was quickly resolved.

The hostel is in a house where the owner and staff live, meaning that you have to share common spaces, can't use the kitchen in certain timeframes, etc. There are several posters with rules for guests, but hosts don't seem to follow the same, kitchen was quite dirty. Appreciated having curtains for privacy, but they didn't shield from light and there was no lamp inside, which was not very convenient. One of the curtains was removed because full of mold. If any guest is in the room past 10 AM, there is no cleaning in that day..however not clear until when the cleaning time is on. There is no hand soap in the bathroom, which is not very hygienic, asked if it was possible to put some, but ended up buying my own soap.

Bed was comfy. Room was clean.

Really negative vibes from the staff. No good morning, no hello... if you do something in the kitchen they come and clean right after you like you're a neusance there. They came into my room and turned off ac without regard for those still sleeping. However, the owner would run the ac in her room ALL DAY. Just no amor in ilha do amor... The roads are totally disintegrated on the way up from rain. This is not their fault however, if you have any foot issues it is really difficult to walk and good to know ahead this is what it's like.
