Arasi Resort

Generally, pretty good stay and a very nice location - we would go back.

We booked it due to the kite centre, but the kite centre was closed and the space to launch a kite was really minimal. In addition, the resort had no boat to cross the lagoon. The manager started WhatsApping me and sent some unwanted/unprofessional messages - it was a little inconvenient but not too major. We quite liked the rooms although the beds weren’t very comfortable and curtains were non-existent.

Les chambres sont particulièrement bien décorées et plutot spacieuses. Il est possible de décoller en kitesurf directement depuis l'hotel (le décolage n'est pas parfait (plutot déventé, mais il est res pratique)

Le kite center est juste un endroit de storage en travaux: le matériel de location est complement hors d'age. Si vous besoin de louer du matériel, il vaut mieux aller ailleurs. Le restaurant est plutot cher et pas génial. Nous y avons mangé le premier soir, puis tous les autres soirs nous avons pris un TukTuk pour diner à l'extérieur. Les prix des excursions organisées par l'hotel me semble disproportionnées. Il y a de nombreux spots de kite accesssibles uniquement en bateau, tous les hotels proposent des sustemes de navette et l'hotel nous a demandé plus pour nous déposer sur un spot à 20 min de bateau que pour une nuit à 4 avec le petit dejeuner. Résultat, nous avons organisé tous nos déplacements avec les hotels autours qui étaient 3 fois moins cher pour le meme service. Et c'est un peu ma conclusion au sujet de cet hotel: le rapport qualité prix est plutot pas mal pour la chambre mais comme le coin est isolé, tous les autres services sont chargés au prix fort.

Our stay at Arasi Resort was very pleasant. We highly recommend choosing the traditional Sri Lankan breakfast – it’s a real treat for the taste buds. The staff, especially the manager, were incredibly friendly and always willing to help. The rooms are comfortable, and the open-ceiling bathrooms are a unique pleasure. The resort offers stunning views over the Kalpitiya Lagoon.

Never ever have I thought that during our world journeys I will find the place so close to paradise in each aspect! From the very beginning you feel like home! The hotel is so arranged that you find a beautiful detail in every corner, although most is round :) The couple from Sweden, Carolina and Roland who manage the hotel are the best! They helped us a lot. First of all they speak English fluently! Before, in every hotel that was a problem for us. The owners didn't speak English, or it was really hard to get them. Carolina and Roland feel and understand the guests so well! We will never forget the movie night with popcorn! Thank you so much! Then it's much, much easier to arrange anything: from money exchange, ice cream and coconuts to tuk tuks or short and long trips as well as small and deep talks ;) The place is created to relax either after busy travels around the island or just from the work at home. Here is a list of all we loved: lots of places to hide and relax in peace like hammocks, lovely benches with ocean view, the pool, yoga and reception spots with cushions and wifi spots :), silence, the restaurant with fantastic Ravi and other boys, the most comfortable beds!, breakfasts with Nescafe coffee, fresh juice every day, coconuts, yummy ice cream and fantastic seafood dinners, cleanliness, birds singing, mornings and evenings and above all the atmosphere of the place, possibility to jog to town, volleyball and soccer pitches 10min walk from the hotel, great restaurants around in Kalpitiyia and Kudawa with its best Windy Waves! We also went there for kitesurfing. The kite school is at the hotel with its best instructors: Jeevan and Aarus! Thanx guys for every day and especially for the Kite trip to Wella Island! Charmant ingericht!

We bestelden lunch om 13.45 maar moesten 2u wachten op het eten. Ook de lunch om mee te nemen op de boot liet wat op zich wachten maar als compensatie kregen we die gratis, wat geapprecieerd werd.

Das Resort liegt recht abseits direkt an der Lagune und ist eine totale Ruheoase. Die gesamte Anlage ist sehr schön gestaltet mit kleinen Rückzugsorten zum Seele baumeln lassen. Unser Gartenbungalow mit dem Hochbett für die Kinder war gross und sehr gemütlich, das Aussenbad ein Highlight. Auch die Bungalows mit direktem Blick auf die Lagune sind toll. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt in vollen Zügen genossen: das morgendliche Yoga mit Caroline, Bootsausflug zum Strand oder auch der Ausflug in den Wilpattu Park. Danke an Caroline und Roland sowie an das gesamte Team, für euren warmherzigen Empfang, die vielen guten Tipps und Unterstützung für unsere Weiterfahrt.

Als kleines Manko könnte man die nicht so einfache Anfahrt zum Resort nennen, unser Fahrer hatte etwas Mühe. Leider ist der direkt am Resort liegende Strand der Lagune nicht so sauber, dass es zum Baden einlädt.

I truly loved the peaceful atmosphere, which creates the perfect setting to enjoy a morning coffee by the lagoon, unwind after kitesurfing, or simply relax with a delicious meal at the café. What really makes this place special is the amazing staff — always smiling and ready to help. I especially want to highlight Ansalees, the young administrator, who manages to maintain a warm and friendly relationship with his team while creating an unforgettable experience for guests. A special mention also goes to Jeewan for the excellent kitesurfing lessons. If you're ready to try kitesurfing, this place is definitely paradise. Ashen always served with a big smile and made sure the food arrived on time, adding to the overall great experience. And last but not least, there is Chathuranga — often behind the scenes, but working hard every day to keep the surroundings beautiful. Thanks to his efforts, the blooming plants and well-maintained environment make this place even more enjoyable.

The only thing I felt was missing during my stay was a bit more variety at breakfast. For example, it would have been wonderful to have some wholesome gluten-free porridge options, such as buckwheat or certified gluten-free oats. If there were mozzarella with tomatoes, or a ricotta or cottage cheese in the morning, it would be just perfect. Additionally, I missed having better coffee choices in the morning — a good Italian-style coffee or a cappuccino made with almond milk (for a lactose-free option) would have been a perfect addition. I also believe the kitesurfing equipment could use some updates. On lighter wind days, there were no bigger kites available, and one of the kites had a torn sail. Furthermore, the kitesurfing boots were clearly worn out and in need of replacement.
