"REST AND RELAX"

10.0

This area has suffered some damage from last Oct. (2016 hurricane), but we went anyway. It was great. Three hour flight from Toronto, Ontario with Sunwing, same time zone. Our room was standard. The grocery store was great. We looked on line at a grocery flyer before we booked. Most items were reasonably priced. The more expensive items like honey and Ritz Crackers we left on the shelf. We found another crackers on sale for $1.99. Pool, beach and a bed. What more could you want. If you NEED entertainment each evening DO NOT stay here. Quiet, beautiful people. Aqua Fit in the pool Mon, Wed and Friday mornings for 45 minutes, while looking up at the blue sky. Some people doing Yoga. .A small restaurant by the pool. Just a lovely relaxing week, and not crazy expensive. The people in the Freeport area are beautiful kind people. One man that we met took us for a tour in his car, so before leaving we left him with our groceries that we did not eat. Donald lives in the same building. He has his own taxi. He drove us to MASS on Sunday morning. That was a wonderful experience. I believe that every Canadian Roman Catholic should witness MASS there. Uplifting. About 30 people in the choir, that sounded like a professional choir. The Priest hugged me on the way out.

"This "Hotel" and Condo Should Not Be Your Only Reflection of Grand Bahama!"

2.0

Overall, the island has taken a huge hit from the hurricane in October 2016. They have not recovered and are barely hanging on. The people of Grand Bahama are awesome! Kind, friendly (most of them!) and really proud of their resilience to bounce back. I truly hope that the big hotels open up again so that tourists return. As it is, Coral Beach is one of the few accommodations up and running in the area. This is truly unfortunate because it should in no way be a reflection of the island potential. This is not a hotel. It is a condo, that has seen much better days. Most units are rented out by foreign owners, which is not a problem. We rented from some very nice and helpful people who really did care about their guests and the cleanliness of their units. The people who own the condos and actually lived there were all very nice, welcoming people. Sometimes when you rent a condo at a resort, the owners are not friendly and treat rents with disdain. The people who worked in the office and at the beach restaurant/bar were not so nice. Upon arrival, our owners did not give us the drop box number so we could not get our key. The people in the "office," could not care less that we were unable to get into our unit. There was only one working elevator in this place and it didn't stop at the 4th floor! We of course were on the 4th floor. This meant we had to go to 5 and walk down the dark stairwell. No one in the office had the courtesy to mention this to us while we were waiting for assistance. We had to haul our luggage down a flight of stairs. Some in our group of 4 were approaching 70! You would think that they would say "do you need some help?" Nope! After asking several times for some assistance, we were finally given a phone number of the units property manger, who I must have woken up because she shouted the code at me and slammed the phone down! Our relationship went downhill from there. Upon entering the unit we were shocked at the filthy state it was in! The floors in the bathroom were dirty. The freezer door was frozen shut. There was a unused bar fridge that let off an ungodly odour! We e-mailed our owners to say we were not pleased and in turn, neither were they. They pay good money to have someone ensure their unit is in good condition. They sent the property manager over to survey the damage. Her standard of cleanliness varied greatly from ours! The bar/beach restaurant was also staffed by some very unfriendly people. The bartender was great, but his boss was not so nice. She acted like it was a huge hassle to serve us every single time we went to the bar! Tipping did nothing to persuade her to be nice. So we gave up. The food wasn't very good anyway. The one positive was the beach, it is stunning! Clean, private, great fun! If you are looking for restaurants, there are none within walking distance, unless you count Burger King, which I do not. There is nothing around within walking distance to Coral Beach. You can catch the "bus" for $1.25US. Don't bother asking for a schedule, there isn't one. It comes when it comes. Somedays were better than others. The "bus" drivers also are subjective when comes to stops. Some will take to you the location and some will stop nearish to where you might be going.

"Better places in bahamas"

6.0

Dec 2016 to Jan 2017 just 3 months after hurricane Mathew....and this hotel has seen some damage and is still under repair. Although clean and provides a pool (not heated) it has shuffle board and a small beach restaurant that is pretty good. I would recommend this place for those who aren't looking to spend a fortune and want to enjoy a clean and wonderful beach.

"Needs Some Tender Loving Care"

6.0

My party of 3 adults stayed at the Coral Beach Hotel and Condos renting a condo on the 4th floor. Lobby area is clean and security is right at the entrance. Arriving on a weekend day, the check in office closes at 1:00PM, but we had no problem checking into our condo with the instructions from the owner. This is most likely one of the first gated condo community on the Grand Bahamas, so keep this in mind. The shuffle board area was not visible due to concrete not being power washed and a lot of the area need this done. The pool is great with a deep end of 9 feet. The open to the public restaurant and bar was fantastic and Nathan and Sher ell are great greeters and makes you feel welcomed immediately. The food is delicious and plentiful and also within a reasonable price. We loved the Sands beer! This is the best beach in the area and the ocean temperature is 82 and was refreshing to dip into and stay in! We were told by the owners you can rent the chaise loungers for $.300 per day, but Coral Beach hasn't done this in several years. And the condo had no beach chairs to use. Very disappointing for guests in their 60s. But this resort does have palappas on the beach where the Riviera Towers do not, (which is right next door and a much smaller beach area). Our condo was a 2 bedroom with a newly remodeled kitchen. The downside was no TVs in the bedrooms and the living area TV would flicker on/off, (I think the TV is on the way out). The main bathroom was very awkward and tight to move around in. The condo advertised ocean view, but we really didn't have an ocean view. but a glimpse of the ocean on the far side of the balcony leaning over. This is an easy walk to Port Lucaya Marketpace, 15 minutes to 20 minute walk. Queenie and Co. Taxi Service is above and beyond great! Queenie will transport you to the grocery store or anywhere else on the island and she is friendly, reliable and dependable and you can call her from the lobby phone free. We were most impressed with how friendly and loving the Bahamians are and this was so refreshing with all the international turmoil !

"good for the price. location was wonderful"

6.0

beautiful beach, wonderful people. loved the pool side fun. now for the bad part... never could get the shower temperature good, it was either scalding hot or cold. the kitchen is very minimal. the spatula was more for a bbq'r, only two minimally sharp knifes. nothing for oven cooking. it was functional but i suspect they would rather you in their restaurant. the bed needs to be updated! woke up sore every morning. They use to provide floats for the pool. seamed like a lot of the extras were not there this time. wifi was terrible.
