Arne's Place The Friendliest Hotel

The actual property itself was very unique, it had lots of areas and outdoor beds to chill on which were very comfy. The location was great, very central to the town and you could walk straight in to the beach down the road at the side of the property. You could see the beach from the place and hear the waves at night! The beach here we actually found better than baby point further along where everyone goes, as this was quieter and had more space in the ocean. The room was also very nice.

We spent a week in Arne's Cabana and didn't want to leave. The cabana is simple but has everything, the little outdoor area with hammock and couch is the best after a big day. As surfers, it was great to wake up in the morning and see the surf break 🌊 We loved our stay, the staff are relaxed and helpful. They also organise a great Safari, highly recommended.

It wasn't a place where we could meet other travellers. For us, this was fine because we had a busy surfing itinerary and did our own thing.

The place looks really nice and is very relaxing. Arugam bay has one main road and this place is in a cross road in the middle of it, so it’s in a very good position. The room is big and the bed is comfortable, the fan works really well and it’s enough. The majority of the staff is helpful and kind and speaks English.

It’s not really beach front. Not much choice on the restaurant menu and a bit expensive comparing to the average prices of other restaurants in the area.

We stayed at Arne’s for 5 nights. Great location really close to the main action of Arugam Bay. Really close to the beach. The family who run it are lovely and super helpful. We did the safari trip they organised which was amazing and saw some great animals! They also do surfing. Breakfast is also pretty good. If you are looking for somewhere to stay on a budget I would definitely recommend.

It is fairly basic (hence the price). The shower is one temperature and occasionally runs out (they sort straight away). Also there is no air con, just a ceiling fan which is still quite hot.

Arne‘s place is a beautiful, family owned place with a touching story. Haleem, one of the brothers, is putting all his heart and energy in this business. I stayed in the Cabana and it was just really, really cool! Hammock with beach view, outdoor bathroom and nice social area to meet people. Definitely would recommend!

As staff is around anyways all day, they could use the time and clean up a few bits and peace’s (e.g. sand on the balcony, leaves in the bathroom). They seem bored although there would be a lot to do ;)

All the staff were super friendly and always ready to help. The breakfast was healthy and tasty. The grounds were delightful. Only 30 metres to the beach and a great view of Main Point from the breakfast kiosk
