Beautiful place. Great location. Excellent breakfast.

Idyllic location surrounded by beautiful gardens and a short stroll to the beach. Really comfy and spacious family room. We all slept really well in the cosy beds after spending the day on the beach. Friendly and accommodating hosts. Delicious breakfast. We had a brilliant stay and would highly recommend.

Our own fault for not checking times or booking a restaurant for an evening meal but we ended up having to order a late take away from Whitby (which took an hour to arrive). We got into the carefree spirit on the beach and didn't think! Our hosts were very accommodating and provided cutlery and plates and cleared away for us but we felt a bit rude about it being so late.

The setting is perfect. A woodland oasis of birdsong. Comfortable outdoor seating to relax and absorb the peace. Beautiful old house with lots of character and charm. Hosts have put a great deal of thought and effort to the decor. Quality pieces showed off the beautiful elements. Hosts are fantastic and willing to go to great lengths to ensure the guests have everything they could possibly need to make their stay exceptional.

Very crumbly entry steps, all different depths and width. Plant pots and seating area gravel need a good weeding, looked a little forgotten and forlorn. Hallway had stashes of ongoing decorating supplies lining the passageway which was a bit lazy and spoiled the overall welcoming look.

The setting was stunning

When we booked the Woodlands at last minute through Booking.com, the room payment was quoted for two adults one dog. I thought Booking.com had taken the payment when I booked from my collection. I think the room for two adults one dog was a total of £148. When checking out the owner said I hadn’t paid so I had to check my bank and he was right a payment hasn’t come out. I proceeded to pay then they told me I had to pay an extra £20 for the dog I did say I was quoted £148 for all three of us. He proceeded to tell me that that’s the way it was. We did have some back and forth, but he wasn’t budging? I found it very embarrassing so I just paid it but left a bad test in my mouth. The price that you see on Booking.com should be the price you pay in total.
