Grace Hostel - Chiang Rai

I stayed at this hostel for a one night stop so that I could take a slow boat to Laos. It was nice, clean and had nice staff and a lovely balcony area. I left at about 5am but there was still breakfast out for me which I really appreciated. The beds are very private as they are like little boxes.

It is quite far to get to the bus terminal from this hostel (30 min walk) especially if you're leaving at the same time as me - I had a mild altercation with some dogs on my walk there... the toilets and showers have collected a lot of water causing the doors to swell and be difficult to close.

Excellent oldschool hostel for the price and even free scrambled egg and coffee cor breakfast. Nice terrace area upstirs and big place to chill/work downstairs!

I had rented the bike from the hostel collaborating with a rental agency for 3 days in total, but today o returned it half an hour later and they tried to charge me the whole day ( 250 baht, although in the contract nothing is written for a delayed return).When i called the police, they went down to 80, then to 50 and when the policeman arrived, down to 0 baht!.... I hadnt seen anywhere in thailand before such practises and it reminded me of similar practises in cambodia some years ago....

It's a pretty good hostel, the owners and other staff are friendly. The beds are comfortable, the showers and toilets are spacious and clean. There's a nice breakfast in the morning. There are lockers. There are markets and restaurants nearby.

The only polite person from the staff was the cleaning lady who didnt speak english though....Location,-wise, it was far from the centre ( 2.5 km), the matresses in the 8 bed room were as hard as cement and the noisy ac made you feel you are on a mountain....

The hostel was great value for money, there are a lot of beds in the mixed dorms but I was never disturbed, there are plenty of showers and toilets too which were generally very clean. The bed is very hard, for me that wasn’t a problem but I know for some it can be uncomfortable. The hostel is slightly out of the center of town, but easy to reach by grab/bolt. It was a nice bonus to have a fresh cooked eggs or omelette for breakfast!

The hotel is very nice. The hotel is located in the center. The staff are nice. The breakfast is not bad.
