We really like the breakfast buffet, everywhere is nice and clean.

The location is awful, bit too far away from from anything. Swimming pool was closed the whole time we were there. Bar is not open until midnight as it states, it closes at 7pm. The terrace was not open. Food in Ningxingge restaurant was massive letdown and pricey. Room Sevice food was awful.

After reading several of the reviews here, I was hesitant to stay at the JW Marriott Yinchuan. However, I am glad I didn't cancel my booking. The hotel is beautiful with nicely appointed rooms. My room (normal room on the executive level) had a great design. In the entry, there was a small sitting area that was split apart from the main bedroom. Although the room size isn't big, the design was nice. The toilet area was also well designed with two sinks, a separate bathtub area, and a nice large shower. The only complaints with my room are: 1. The luggage storage area in the closet is super small, and can't accommodate larger suitcases. The floor space in the room is small, so it's hard to put the suitcase on the floor. 2. The room has a Nespresso coffee maker, but the coffee pods are generic. There is no writing on the pods, so I have no idea if there were any decaf pods. The JW Kitchen's breakfast was outstanding with a huge selection of food and good quality of food. However, the woman cooking the eggs was using way too much oil (the eggs were swimming in oil!!) The JW lounge was the highlight of my stay. The personnel working in the lounge were super friendly and nice and there was a wide range of good quality food and drinks available. The only exception was the salad lettuce the first night that I arrived. It had been frozen, so when it thawed out, the lettuce was limp and transparent. I highlighted this to the lounge staff and they replaced the lettuce. I don't know how this can slip by the kitchen and lounge staff (maybe they aren't familiar with salad?) The morning of my stay, the Marriott app showed that I was upgraded to a Junior Suite. When I arrived at the hotel, Colin Cui said that I had been downgraded to a normal room. I was not happy about this and told him that the hotel shouldn't upgrade someone and then downgrade them. Rather, it's better not to upgrade the room until the hotel is sure that the room is going to be available. He acted very defensive, and his bad attitude was surprising for someone working in a 5 star hotel. One thing to keep in mind is that Yinchuan is a sprawling city without any elevated thoroughfares, so it can take a long time to get from the airport to this hotel (45 minutes to an hour). There were 35-40 red lights from the airport to this hotel. Even getting across town to a meeting or for sightseeing can take 30-45 minutes from this hotel. Although I haven't stayed at other hotels in Yinchuan, I will definitely make the JW my hotel of choice when visiting Yinchuan!

Brand new rooms. Opened in mid 2020. It is just the little things that makes this not quite 5 stars: - The "modern" architecture is stunning from afar - you could even spot the building from the airport. However, the grid exterior means the view from the rooms and lounge will always be blocked by a beam. Ceiling to floor glass windows are not impressive in the day if the building is battered by sandstorms and you can't see the Ningxia Museum through the dust. - Our room took an hour to be ready. Even though we had provided our flight details and arrival times twice, at the reservation and with the executive lounge staff, prior to arrival. - The curtains in our room was connected to the master power switch. While an applaudable energy-saving measure, this means that we had to open the curtains every time we entered our room. Also, no bluetooth speakers or HDMI outlets even with the brand new furnishings. - The air in the health club was foul even though the facilities were brand new. The jets in the jacuzzi/steam room won't stay on - we had to press a button every other minute to keep the heat going. On the bright side, the staff went above and beyond to make our celebration special. The happy hour in the lounge is quite generous between 5:30 to 9:30pm. We were hoping they would feature some of Ningxia's renowned wines but had to settle for the tepid offerings. No bubbles due to shortage.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 days. The rooms were clean and spacious, the bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was expansive and the staff was attentive. I would highly recommend staying there if you ever visit Yinchuan for business or pleasure. Great Xixia museum close by that I would highly recommend visiting while you’re there.

The hotel is located in a newer area in Yinchuan, about 10 minutes by taxi to the old center. It’s quite convenient for sightseeing, as lots of tourist buses depart right in front of the hotel. The adjacent area around the hotel is mostly government buildings and museums together with an exhibition hall, yet several green parks can be accessed within 10 minutes of walk. As new hotel, the style is a bit conservative, typical high-end business hotel. The rooms are compact by Asian standard but very quiet. Great bathroom design. The food and beverage service is astonishingly good, both in the restaurants downstairs and the executive lounge. Very good elite members recognition.
