Varandas do Funchal I by An Island Apart

I enjoyed my stay in this lovely spacious apartment. The terrace gets sun in the morning. There was a funny, curious cat roaming the garden that made breakfast entertaining. I didn't get into the pool as I found it too cold but it was very well maintained and clean. The bed was very comfortable, kitchen had all the common appliances. The apartment is a 10 min walk from the city center and supermarkets. I would highly recommend this apartment.

The fridge makes a loud sound periodically but easy to ignore. Regarding the leakage in the shower, this is because there's a small slit between the glass screen and the bathtub and I fixed it by sliding a towel into the slit. No more water on the floor! The apartment is located on a steel hill, so may not be ideal for those who find it difficult to walk up hills but shouldn't be a problem if you have a car. There's a garage as well.

Manager is a pro, good instructions, responsive. Good location for city access. Assigned garage parking is a big bonus. Liked the lush green yard behind the kitchen window. Well equipped kitchen. Lovely patio and nice views from it.

That steep climb on the last stretch will be for fit people. Instant hot water heater was unpredictable, showers were hardly warm. Bedroom is pretty small but we knew it before we booked.

Comfortable, spacious and well equipped apartment with lovely views over the pool and sea. The approach to the apartment is up a very steep hill, but secure private parking is available.
