Hokianga Haven

Beautifully located next to a sandy beach with views across to a large sand dune. Scenic clifftop walk where we spotted some orca. The nearby village is maybe lacking facilities- we couldn’t find a shop or cafe but that was ok. We welcomed the chance to do some laundry.

I’ve stayed about 3 times over the last 11 years and always love it! Heather is a wonderful host and the views and beach are to die for!

The Sou wester was a bit annoying but you can’t control the weather!

We stayed on the basis of self catering. What we loved about the property was that it exceeded our expectations. The position is wonderful with immediate access to the beach. Whilst there are very few facilities for us in this location (it didn’t matter as that’s why we chose to stay there) there was a hotel where we ate it and the two nights we were there and that was extremely good. There was a local shop where we go to get supplies. On a five week trip to New Zealand, this was one of the highlights!
