Tru by Hilton Asheville Blue Ridge Parkway

Room was clean and comfortable.

Someone was smoking pot and cigarettes in next room or somewhere when we initially checked in and went to bed. It finally cleared sometime during the night.

An excellent place; like all Tru hotels, very well set up with what you need, from a nightlight to a desk chair to a shelf by the sink. The room and bathroom were spotless, the shower was great, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was motel standard. Our room faced the highway but the noise was not terrible. There were several nice restaurants a mile or two down the main road.

First stayed at this hotel shortly after it opened a few years ago. The price was good and the place was amazing. Nice layout in the lobby with snacks, drinks, wine, beer and a nice game room. Close to my family that lives in the area and convenient to downtown Asheville. Stayed there at least 3 more times since then. The price rose lightly but never enough to hurt. On the trip before our November stay we noticed some major changes but attributed that to the economy and covid. Then, last week, we stayed there again. This will be the last time. First and foremost, the price. My wife had already paid before I came in or we would have left then. Over $220 dollars for the night. Over 100 dollars higher than our last stay about a year or less, ago, No reason. Just that much higher. The lobby appeared dull and dark and it looked like time to redecorate. The room was about the same with no added amenities to justify 200 dollars for a night. Breakfast was just awful. Low quality omelet (?) with a slice of cheese melted in it. No biscuits, gravy or sausage. No waffle machine and what was that pancake warmer??The bacon was pitiful, greasy and not the quality we were used to. It was not good by any stretch of the imagination. We changed hotels and went to a Holiday Inn Express where we paid less than $140 tax and all. Great room and the breakfast was as good as one can find on the road at a hotel. I won't go back to Tru. The old Roadway Inn would give them a run for their money. Hilton could do better. I guess I should mention, I was told that this was the fall season when the leaves change in the mountains and that prices are higher then. Maybe someone at corporate should take a drive around areas like this and see if the conditions justify such a ridiculous over charge of their customers.
