One of the best hotel I have been in the world. The staff not only answered our need,s, they even anticipated them. Amazing.

The hotel has historical significance, although it appears quite worn out and in need of renovation. Breakfast was extensive. The public path is good.

I stayed at Tokiwa Hotel on October 12 to 13 and experienced one of the most unprofessional check-in incidents I have ever had in Japan. I had booked two rooms for four guests through Booking.com, which is clearly shown on my receipt. Despite this, the hotel demanded an extra 20,680 yen at check-in, claiming my booking had been transmitted as two single-occupancy rooms. This explanation is impossible because Tokiwa Hotel does not sell any single-occupancy rates on Booking.com. The price is identical for one or two guests, with only the 150 yen hot spring tax differing. In other words, my original payment already covered four guests. The extra charge had no valid basis and contradicted the hotel’s own listing. My friend and I spent more than 30 minutes explaining this in English and Japanese, but the staff refused to acknowledge the simple fact that a “single room” booking cannot exist if no single rate is sold. After leaving, I emailed the hotel and sent every screenshot and receipt proving the four-guest reservation. They did not reply. The evidence was ignored. When the hotel finally responded later, they repeated the same excuse and claimed they had to “prepare for four guests on short notice,” even though my confirmation stated four guests from the beginning. They accepted no responsibility, provided no proof, and attempted to shift the issue onto Booking.com while keeping the money. This raises serious concerns about transparency. No guest should need to argue for half an hour, gather evidence, send multiple emails, and still be dismissed. The hotel’s handling of a simple billing issue was evasive and far below any acceptable standard. I strongly advise future guests to check every charge and save all screenshots. My experience shows a troubling lack of accountability.

お庭がとにかく素敵でした。一緒に行った高齢の両親も感激していました。部屋も広く、良かったです。

良くなかった点は特にありませんが、 強いて言うなら、お庭の案内がもう少し詳しくあるといいと思います。奥に池があるのは館内から見て分からなかったので、事前に教えていただけたらより良いのかなと思います。

It had a beautiful garden, a peaceful atmosphere and a wonderful onsen

I liked everything.

This was the best ryokan I have stayed in. The grounds are beautiful and the room was large with every amenity you could need. The in room hot spring bath was amazing. The breakfast was delicious. Most importantly the service was first rate. I forgot a charger and they mailed it to my next hotel without any compensation. I would love to stay again and give it my highest recommendation.

スタッフの対応が丁寧でとても良かったです 大浴場脱衣所の清掃が頻繁に行われて清潔が保たれ、湯あがりのアイスや麦茶、朝のアイスコーヒー等サービスがあり快適に温泉を楽しむ事ができました　

お部屋は広くて素晴らしかったのですが、その割にテレビが小さく、水まわりがやや古い感じがしました ドアの鍵の位置が低く少し使いづらく思いました
