TABITABI STAY SHINSEN

Nice to stay in a traditional home in a quiet neighourhood.

Very nice Appartement, we spent 5 days in Kyoto with our 3 and 8 year old kids. We had a great time. Very close to the Nijo station, with some shops and restaurants all around. Great stay.

A beautiful and cosy property with a lovely Japanese interior. My husband and I went in the winter and we enjoyed being within walking distance of Nijo Castle and Nijo Station.

As we went in the winter, the heating was extremely important. On the first night, we felt the room heat up too much and were unable to sleep well, but the owner of the property immediately sent people down the next day to check on the unit and gave us detailed instructions on how to operate the heater which was great. We also accidentally booked a day less than we needed but the owner made accommodations for us (albeit at a high fee due to the last minute nature of the booking), but we were thankful we wouldn’t need to go through the hassle of rebooking a different hotel for a single night.

Nothing

The bathroom was very smelly the whole entire time we were there. The bath tub was very moldy and smelled horrible. It was very nasty.

Lovely accommodation with a wonderful attention to detail.

WiFi could have been better.

It’s a lovely house, renovated but preserving the typical Japanese style. Very good location, quiet neighbourhood, acceptable distance to the subway, pharmacy and convenience store close by.

I suggest a washing/drying machine, a clothes rack and some hangers in the toilet.

Beautiful accommodation, especially the washroom. The location was good and near a market area. A variety of drinks were provided. They also had a lot of towels. The washing machine was easy to use and they provided laundry detergent pods. Sleeping on the tatami mat with the bedding was comfortable.

The front door has a crack when closed so some bugs came in. The mattress wasn't comfortable, because it wasn't an actual mattress.

Traditional style with modern amenities

The stairs were slightly more narrow than we are used to but we got used to it

The machiya is beautiful and comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet. The bath is exceptional.
