The hotel is situated in the quiet village of Norddal and was a convenient stopping point after visiting Geiranger. Communication ahead of arriving was terrible, we counted four unanswered emails and an internet search indicates falsely that the hotel is ‘temporarily closed’. They eventually answered one of our messages to provide some comfort that the hotel was actually open but further questions about the dinner remained unanswered. They seemed unconcerned about the internet advice The hotel is a heritage building. Beautifully laid out and decorated. We had a room overlooking the river and whilst small was okay for an overnight stay. Facilities in the room are limited and the shower in the bathroom is over a cast iron bath with no glass cover or curtain but everywhere was spotlessly clean. Our meal was so-so. It is a three-course meal starting at 20.00 but food delivery is incredibly slow with the main meal served at 20.50 after a cold starter. Food portions also quiet small for the cost involved. They were able to offer a fish alternative for the main course for non-red meat eaters which we only sorted out on arrival due to communication problems. We were still happy with our stay but we get the impression the place really needs to have a good hotel manager to provide some organisation.

Front desk staff is very helpful. My husband's ankle was strained. Front desk lady was helping us to call doctor and provided us ice and pain killer. My husband and I are really appreciate her great help.

Nicest place we stayed during our 3 weeks in Norway. The location is idyllic and property exceptionally charming. The breakfasts and dinners were excellent and our host was a delight
