Little budget motels like this are always a bit of a gamble, and our first impression was that this one was a mistake: paint was haphazard, the bathroom was very amateurishly patched together (nice quality sink and faucet, however), the ceiling looked a little threatening, and the tub could have used some quality time with Mr. Bleach. That said, the view through the back window was downright bucolic, the beds were very comfortable with clean sheets (slightly dingy bedspread, however), and the carpets were vacuumed. We slept better than we had two nights before in a hotel costing 4 times as much. I can't really recommend the motel, but then I can't really recommend stopping in Angola. I'd rather stay here than in a shabby chain motel that is nicer but costs 2-3 times as much.

It's not a great choice as a resort hotel. It's plain jane with spartan amenties, but it is cheap. If you just want somewhere to crash, this will do. Come with no expectations other than a bed and a bathroom. If you are on a budget, and you won't be at the hotel much, I don't its all that horrible for the price. It's all about what you get a hotel for... you won't find any movie stars stopping here.

We went into the room it smelt bad (mildewy). Walked into the bathroom and the floor has a loose or rotten board and bent down when you stepped on it. The bathroom was horrid! The floor was molding under the linoleum. There WAS a twin light fixture on the wall - one was missing the lamp and just a stump was sticking out of the wall. WE LEFT! DIDN'T EVEN SPEND 5 MINUTES THERE!

Hotels near Pokagon St. Park insist on non refundable reservations, at least in leaf-watching season, This one did not. and the mattress was ok. That's the good part. Everything else is bad Shabby, old, no hot water to speak of. Had to go out and buy a sink stopper to shave. Better to stay a little farther away in one of the surrounding towns.
