While this hotel is nice, we recommend you stay away from it. Staff members enter tourist rooms (foreign ones only) to search and steal. It just happened to us, but it wasn't the first time. The police had in fact already been here for another theft from a tourist last year. This is their modus operandi: they enter with the key when you are not there, they steal a part of money or other values ​​(they don't steal everything because they hope you won't notice). Once the police are called, they make the victims and in the end they give back half of the money (out of kindness). I wonder, why would they do it if it wasn't them, as they say? The police will push to accept the agreement because going to court for a few hundred euros would not make sense and, moreover, without cameras and evidence it would be difficult. We are sure of what we write, so was the Russian tourist before us and also the police, who believed our version. These people should just be ashamed and the owner (who also owns other hotels in the area) should be more present. Although, it seemed that they were all involved and that each of the owner and staff has a specific role during and after the thefts.

This is a very nice hotel, newly renovated and great service to modest price. It is located right on the beach with great view. However the eastern beach of Bira is not clean. Interesting are the wooden ships under construction, which is close to the hotel. The local craftsmen are proud to show you the result. It is a must to see them.

I stayed in this cozy hostel for 8 nights looking for a time-out after having travelled through Bali for a week. The hostel has a very personal atmosphere about it as its staff members are very friendly, helpful and reliable. It has nice 6 rooms with Air Conditioning and very comfortable beds. The host, Bobby, is an open-minded and gentle guy who can immediately provide guests with all the necessary information they need to have a pleasant stay in at the edge of South Sulawesi (including restaurants, dive spots, snorkeling areas and transport methods). He speaks English, German and Indonesian and is even up to taking visitors to places in the area. The Beach Panrang Luhu is only a 2-minute-walk from the hostel and the paradisal Bara Beach is just a 20-minute-walk from here or a ten-minute drive by scooter. I can highly recommend you to come here if you want to discover this seemingly undiscovered part of Indonesia with the help of a local.
