The African Paradise Beach Hotel

Un vero angolo di paradiso, dove ogni dettaglio è curato con grande attenzione. La gentilezza e la disponibilità dei proprietari, insieme a quelle di tutto il personale, hanno reso il soggiorno ancora più piacevole, mentre il cibo si è rivelato semplicemente eccellente. Un’esperienza da ricordare e da consigliare!

Alles! Super nette Hosts, die alles für uns gemac hat haben! Einer meiner besten Aufenthalte in meinem gesamten Leben!

The accommodation is great. Food is awesome, perfect location and very nice rooms. The highlight are the owners and the staff. They are very kind, offer their help everywhere they can. There are free games, beach volleyball, snorkeling masks and a very good WiFi etc. Moreover sometimes they hand out a free drink or snack. The hotel isn’t too big so you get to know the staff, owners and other guests. If you want a couple calm days, this is the perfect stay and you have no reason to leave the place for days.

Bwejuu is a bit far from all the action. So if you want a bit more Cafés or restaurants around it’s maybe not perfect. But you can take a Tuk tuk or bus to Paje for little money or do a short beach walk. The advantage is that it’s very calm, not many tourists and you have the beach fully for yourself.

Abbiamo iniziato la nostra vacanza a Zanzibar da African Paradise e ci siamo sentite a casa. Un angolo di pace e relax immerso nella realtà locale, gestito da Pia e suo marito, due parsone molto solari e attente a non farti mancare niente. Anche il resto dello staff era sempre gentile e attento. Abbiamo mangiato piatti locali cucinati con cura, fatto abbondanti colazioni (succo di mango e ananas delizioso!!!) e dormito bene. Camera di dimensioni accettabili, sempre pulita. Bagno un po' particolare nel suo genere, ma in linea con la semplicità della struttura. Balconcino vista mare meraviglioso! Una volta andate via ci mancavano anche le cornacchie che abitavano le palme vicine 🤣 torneremo molto volentieri!!! 😍 grazie ancora Pia!!

The owners are the kindest people I’ve ever met. The swimming pool is right on the beach.

The welcome, even though we arrived at midnight, was warm and very friendly, and the flowers on the bed plus the towel 'sculptures' made our arrival feel very special. Pia and Hassim work hard to create a lovely atmosphere, and the staff are all friendly and full of smiles (plus efficient service). The breakfast deserves a special mention, as Pia and the kitchen staff cannot believe that the very generous three course breakfasts is 'too much'as we tried to protest! We didn't manage all three courses on any of the mornings we were there, but we enjoyed all we ate. Fruit juice, a VERY generous fruit plate of assorted fruits, a second course that varied each day but might include pancakes, beans, sausages, etc, was then followed by an egg course. Eggs any way you could possibly want them. What a great start to the day, and served with the most incredible view over the sand and the sea. Lunches, drinks and evening meals were also very good indeed. Our first floor room had a great sea-view balcony with two relaxing sofas, and we loved watching the sea advance and retreat, and the locals heading along the beach as part of their daily routines. A boat trip out at high tide was amazing, and the temperature of the sea is hard to believe. It is genuinely as hot as bath water! Bwejuu is a poor area, and those living just behind the hotel live in very basic single storey dwellings on dusty streets, drawing water from wells and living very simply. The contrast between their circumstances and the 'paradise' created inside the hotel made us feel even more blessed to have experienced a stay at African Paradise Hotel.

There were a number of power cuts, but the property's generator soon kicked in and filled the power gap.

On arrival we received a warm welcome from Pia and Hasim the owners, with a welcome drink and cake. The 6 Bedroom Hotel was set in a perfect location with direct access to the quiet powdery white sand beach, but only a short distance to Paje, if you wanted something more lively. We stayed in the beautifully decorated and very clean 2 Bedroom Suite with private balcony and seaview overlooking the pool and beach. Pia, Hasim and their excellent staff were so attentive to their guest needs throughout our 11 night stay, even to the extent of offering guests a Free Boat Snorkeling Trip, unlimited tea and coffee throughout the day, everyday, plus free cakes in the afternoons. The food they served was excellent from the large 3 plate breakfast, consisting of a Fruit Plate, a Meze or Waffle/Pancake Plate and finished off with an Egg Plate with Toast. The lunch and evening meal menu had a good variation of dishes from local to western meals to suit everyone's palette, of which every meal we had was very good, especially the fish and seafood, plus the wali maharage. Then at the end of our stay before we left the African Paradise, Pia and Hasim even gave us leaving gifts, to help us remember our memorable stay with them at their Hotel/House.
