Aki Kokubunji Shukubou

The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was just me and my son and felt welcomed the minute we arrived. The site was an outdoor museum with lots of history and the morning service was enlightening to watch and be apart of. I enjoyed my son learning other about cultures he even like some of the vegan food :)

The originality of staying on site at a temple is very attractive, and the cleanliness of the whole area is very high. It is definitely a stay away from distraction and is very calm. The traditional breakfast is very good, and more than generous. Easily accessible from the train station, roughly a 5 minute walk. The monk was very nice, and accommodating.

The stay doesn't represent value for money, and does feel quite touristy in the welcome and attitude of the staff. The additional options - meditation and calligraphy - are not lessons at all, but simply the chance to participate, with no particular instructions or explanations given, nor chance to understand reasons behind what is being executed. They are also very expensive, and do not represent good value. No evening meal is available, and the nearest places to eat are a couple of kilometres away.

Everything was perfect, a great experience for being on a japonese temple , staff was really kind and helpful, not busy at all, you get all the attention.

this place was spectacular and a big experience for our family. we joined the morning ceremony in the temple and afterwards we had a traditional japanese breakfast (vegetarien). the breakfast was served and presented by our very open and friendly host at temple. we really a great night and morning here. we recommend this place very much.

Best breakfast ever! Courteous people and detailed explanations about this delicious meal! I even went to a tour around the hotel promoted by one of the owners. Thank you for being so kind!

Awesome experience, with a particularly kind and welcoming host. Great breakfast too. There is the possibility to attend a morning temple ceremony. Staying here was also great to get away from the most touristic spots, and get a different perspective on Japan.

This is a traditional type of accommodation, with a thin wall between the two guest rooms. I assume that Japanese guests are well aware of it, but tourists probably don't realize that you can hear guests from the other room talking or snoring. Earplugs can help.

We wanted to spend at least one night in a temple and this proved to be a good choice. Easily reached by train from Hiroshima and a short walk from Saijo station. So peaceful and a truly amazing breakfast.
