Buxton Crescent

We stayed for one night, the room was comfortable and spacious. We were slightly disappointed our room wasn’t ready until exactly 3pm though, we felt that they just didn’t allow an earlier check in without paying extra. We appreciated the air con and black out curtains in the room! The spa was very well maintained, clean and comfortable without being too crowded. We had a massage and our therapists were very friendly and we enjoyed the treatments. Location was very central, lots of cafes and shops around but parking a nightmare so we last minute added the hotels valet service. Quite pricey at £30 but it had to be done unless we parked miles away! The food was average. Breakfast was minimal, the fruit selection was poor and I do prefer a buffet style so I can choose what goes on my plate. The a la carte selection was good, but then the actual food was abit substandard and we didn’t enjoy it. Glad we didn’t eat there in the evening as the prices were high and judging breakfast might have been disappointing! Overall though a beautiful hotel with friendly service and we wouldn’t hesitate to return.

I was hugely disappointed with my visit. Even my partner who is not very bothered usually was very disappointed. The room was really dusty and there was clumps of hair hanging out of the bin. We got upgraded after complaining but even then we turned up to dirty pots outside the room and pots missing from the room. The spa was only ok. There were little bugs in the aroma steam room drain jumping about and the relaxation pool had stuff floating in. I think the price is too high for the experience. That being said, the staff were really good.

We booked this last minute as a bank holiday breakaway. Felt it was very good value compared to a lot of other bank holiday offers. The room was immaculately clean and the bed was comfortable and it was quiet , central location. We did not use the spa as we planned to be out and about exploring . There is lots of free parking around the hotel and reception, give you a helpful map to support this or you can valet park at a cost. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss . A lady with red hair works really hard but there seemed to be a lot of younger staff hanging around I noticed her speak to one of them and they rolled their eyes at her once she had gone. Both days the full Derbyshire breakfast was a little bit overcooked and the portion seemed small it didn’t have a wow factor. I had poached eggs and avocado on sourdough one day. The sourdough was very hard and the avocado was more like guacamole paste, tasted very citrusy more in line with a Mexican meal than breakfast. The toaster was brilliant best ever as never think those toaster machines are the best either burnt or not cooked but definitely got it right for toast. Orange juice and coffees were standard as with pastries. I felt the fruit salad was not the best looked like it had been hanging around and limp. All staff were friendly and welcoming and I would return as hotel was in a great location I would return and recommend.

The spa facilities are great! And mostly the service was good too. But the fact we pay so much and when we ask for water bottles for the room they charge £1 a bottle was crazy! Also the breakfast on a whole was great .....again they charged if you ordered 2 plates but I think this was to prevent wastage! The hotel itself partially seemed old. The room wasn't as clean as I'd expect. Also they had very different rooms and we got 2 rooms and got very different rooms.

Fabulous stay at the Crescent Hotel in Buxton. From the moment we arrived to when we checked out, we were looked after very well. Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable room. Excellent breakfast. The Spa area is very nice, the outdoor Spa pool is great and the Gym is well equipped. Will certainly look to return.

It was a disappointing stay. Although the building is undoubtedly beautiful, the room we were given was not even clean. There were hairs on the chair and hair grips on the floor which stayed there for our two night stay. No additional toiletries in the room like you get in other quality hotels, hard towels, dated furniture and although we asked for a quiet room, we were backed on to a busy road. The breakfast was the worst we have ever had - cold, hard bacon, hard poached eggs and lipstick on my teacup. No fresh fruit, just soggy day old 'fruit salad' - just melon and apple. We were going to eat in the restaurant but the breakfast experience meant we cancelled. There was no atmosphere in the hotel, as bars and seating areas all mostly empty. Not even a newspaper to tempt us to sit around or some nice music. Staff hanging around with little to do. The spa was not that great either, and the staff very unhelpful. We were new to the place and wanted to be shown around and they told us to come back with flip flops on and looked at us as if we were vagrants because we had not put our dressing gowns on as we wanted to see the place first. Our view is that it is overpriced for the quality it serves up - really the breakfast was terrible - and seems to be mostly empty with very long corridors. It needs a central hub to attract the guests, better food and less robotic staff. So, a let down for us I'm afraid.

We stayed for a two night mid-week stay. The hotel is located centrally in the town, lovely regency style building. Check in staff very helpful, our double room was well furnished and comfortable the bathroom was large, the whole hotel was very clean. We ate dinner in the hotel on the first night, the food was only average and very overpriced, the young waiting staff need some training to raise the level of service a little. Breakfast was OK. We didn’t use the spa so can’t comment. We did use the bar and found it comfortable and a nice place to relax after dinner. With the proximity of pubs and restaurants close by it’s hard for the hotel to compete. No dedicated parking so we used the valet parking at £30 a day, there are on street options but we didn’t want the added hassle of finding a space. Staff we found to be helpful and friendly, it was a one off stay for us as it’s doubtful we’d be in the area again. We did enjoy our stay, but would recommend taking dinner out locally.

Just returned from a wonderful two-night stay at Buxton Crescent hotel. Room immaculate and roomy. Hotel staff all very helpful, particularly Karen on reception who was very welcoming and informative. Given excellent information on where to park free of charge near the hotel. Spa was relaxing and not over-crowded, which made for a pleasant feedback. Small yet well-equipped gym. Would love to return if I visit the are again and would thoroughly recommend. Central location excellent.

Beautiful hotel with fabulous facilities and helpful staff. Drinks in the bar were quite pricey.

Staffs are friendly and helpful.
