The service was very friendly, I appreciate the toleration of my terrible lack of Japanese language. It seemed like it might have been just the one person running the place? No matter what time of day he was either working the desk or the kitchen of the cafe/restaurant! The location was great, with views overlooking the town towards the mountains on the other side of the valley. Slight word of caution, if you are walking from the station, the road can be quite narrow, and it is a fairly steep hill at the end. But worth the effort. Behind the hotel there is a well kept temple that was very pleasant to visit in the early morning.

Naturally I have become used to swapping to wearing indoor slippers upon entering accommodation rooms in Japan, but here the switch happened in the lobby, putting my shoes into a locker and swapping for hotel branded slippers - that simply did not fit my size feet. I do bring my own with me but they were in my suitcase, which I did not want to open in the public lobby. Perhaps have some available for extra width feet?
