Bona Ngwenya Lodge & Safaris

Location was perfect we had the river in front of us and decided to stay at home for the weekend.Best place to relax.

Our stay was too short

The viewing point, aircons, ice machine, very nice house in excellent setting on the river.

The deck is the best in Marloth, the pool is big and sparkling, the establishment is well equipped.

The hosts, Dennis & Inge were like family. The view at the hide was amazing, the house nice & big with all you need, beautiful garden & the best safari ever with Dennis (who shared so much of his knowledge with us of animals, the bush, trees, plants and birds). The resident baby bush babies were adorable and free roaming buck & Zebra makes it very special. Inge made us the most lovely milk tart & snacks and there were so many personal touches. We had a wonderful stay at Bona Ngwenya lodge and couldn't have asked for more!

The location, the size of the accommodation is excellent and all you need is your groceries.

The 1 bathroom's shower wasn't working but we made do with the other 2 showers.

Location is great overlooking the crocodile river. The viewing deck was an added bonus with awesome sunsets Dennis and inge were excellent host and always helpful. On arrival we were shown around the house by Inge and Inge also escorted us to the local supermarket. The day trip to the Kruger with Dennis was an amazing experience. He was so knowledgeable

Hot water in the shower was not always reliable

The lookout is incredible. It overlooks the Crocodile River where we got to see and hear the hippo. We saw a Fish Eagle catch its breakfast. And watch the Impala and Duiker roam below us. The property is well equipped and the hosts were INCREDIBLE! Dennis was our ranger, really knowledgeable and determined to find us the Big Five. We saw four, Plus cheetah and some very rare Southern Ground Hornbills. The baby Rhino sighting was so heartwarming. We really appreciated Dennis showing us birds, smaller wildlife and telling us about the trees too. We found the tracks of the allusive Leopard. It was a magical two days. Inga was the perfect host. She knew we needed some help with our baby granddaughter as one of us grandparents would stay behind to look after her whilst the parents enjoyed their safari. Inga took us to the nearby shop, and even came to the granddad’s rescue whilst baby was having tummy trouble. Inga settled her and gave me the opportunity to have a quick shower. Priceless, heartfelt support. So appreciated.

It feels mean to find any fault. The home is lovely and welcoming. Some little touches to heighten the experience would be welcome. White linens (easier to clean and more hygienic), with duvets rather than a quilt. The light switches are confusing but if you’re staying for a few days will be easily worked out. I couldn’t work out how to get a warm shower. Boiling hot or ice cold. But when you are staying in the bush, either is phenomenal over no shower at all.
