"Laud place"

2.0

This place is located in a very very laud area, we could not sleep at all. Very small place, only a few rooms, facing the street and the traffic, music, etc. that is going on and on during all day and night.

"Fabulous place"

10.0

We stayed at this hotel for a week in Feb. 2014. Rooms are big and beautiful, comfortable beds. The pool was very nice. The staff was unbelievable helpful. Nice little restaurant. We really felt like we were staying with family. We liked it so much we made arrangements to return in a week on our way back from Loretto. However, when we returned the place was surrounded with yellow tape, police, and piles of belongings of the current guests. We found out that just hours before, the police had come and closed the hotel. No one had known this was going to happen. It appeared there were legal issues with the previous owner. The staff stayed with the guests belongings and made arrangements for everyone to go to another hotel. This place is really a gem. I hope it opens again soon

"Getting what you pay for."

4.0

The photos taken of this small pension are somewhat misleading. When booking, I felt that the hotel was going to be a bit of a fresh oasis with rooms overlooking the pool. If there are rooms that overlook this courtyard, you may have a bit of that. Our large room/balcony was facing an eyesore of a car transmission business. The hotel is on the corner of a busy, dusty exhaust fumed intersection, in a mixed business/industrial/residential neighbourhood. Needless to say, we had to keep our windows closed whenever we were in the room from the dust, fumes and noise. Generally, the rooms are old, unrenovated, dark with not enough working lamps, (and no Tifany lampshades for atmosphere!) with a general feeling of disrepair. The shower water was hot, but sprinkled out somewhat sporadically at intervals. Towels were way passed their prime. Tiled floors throughout the bedroom and washroom were dirty for the duration of our 5 night stay, and along the walls, you could see deeper older grime. A good wash down of the floor every second day, wall to wall, would help to keep the dust down. Walking in the neighbourhood is a hazard at night. After the 6pm sunset the street lights are so dim, the side walks randomly paved, pitted and with sudden changes in levels, that you walk at your own risk. It's a good 30-40 min hike down at least 14 long blocks to the start of the pedestrian malecon. Buses are either one or two blocks away from the hotel, and will take you to the city market area and back. From there it's another few blocks to walk to the water and city/night life. If you're not up to all of this, be prepared to take taxis back and forth. The office staff were pleasant and efficient enough. A bit more muscle into the overall cleanliness, upgrading and routine maintenance like screwing in of bathroom fixtures properly would help. Otherwise, you probably are getting what you pay for.

"Very nice boutique hotel"

8.0

It's a bit off the beaten path and quite a walk to the marina area (10-15 min. drive). I like places like this, though. It was very quiet, and I didn't feel like a tourist but more like a local. There's an AWESOME street-side taco shop just a block away! The staff here is supremely helpful and very down-to-earth. The pool is very nice. It's a small, inviting place. Very neat and tidy. Lovely basic breakfast for about $5 extra, and secure parking is a few bucks extra per day as well, or you can park for free curbside. The king size bed was very comfortable, and honestly that matters the most to me. :)

"A Hidden Gem"

10.0

While not on the waterfront, we enjoyed the walk to and from the male con. The walk allowed us to find little shops and stores that would never have been on our radar. Yes we walked through "regular" mexican neighborhoods but were always met with friendly smiles. On the nights we wanted to celebrate we took a quick inexpensive cab ride to the restaurants and clubs we wanted. The hotel is unique and we felt very much at home there. The facility is extremely clean and there is 24 hour service to help with anything we needed. Great find!

"Way more than just good. Unless you want a big elaborate beach resort at 3x the price, you will love this place."

10.0

This lovely small comfortable quiet hotel is a true "find" at a very reasonable price. Not far from the festive Malicon with a perfect mix of locals and tourists and really good restaurants, this hotel offers a charming relaxed home away from home, although its ambience is clearly Mexican. Our room was spacious, quiet, spotless, and bright with comfortable beds a large bathroom, and refrigerator and microwave. The little restaurant overlooking the pool made staying there extra convenient for a cooked-to-order breakfast or a place for a leisurely drink. Staff were amazingly helpful and friendly way beyond "the call of duty", always available at a moment's and offering suggestions as well as answering questions. We felt comfortably at home immediately, and we will be delighted to stay there again. Bottom Line: Unless you are looking for a big elaborate beach resort at way more than twice the price, you will love this place. Actually, I think the TripAdvisor rating of 7.9 is definitely too low

"Good Value - Friendly Staff"

8.0

Casa Jalisco has many things that other La Paz hotels in the same price range are lacking: good mattresses, nice bedding (not the sand-paper sheets in some hotels in this price range), soap and shampoo, a fridge and a microwave in the room, clean pool, nice restaurant (when a chef is there) and an extremely obliging staff. It would be nice if it were closer to the malecon but taxis are cheap and La Paz is a safe place for those of us who walk. We’ve stayed here a couple times in an "executive" room which was spacious. I’d like them to be a little more meticulous when it comes to cleaning but it’s good value overall and I’m sure we’ll stay there again. Note that the TripAdvisor map is incorrect for many La Paz hotels. Best to check the hotel website or call for directions.
