Hotel Millwright

The location in the Amana colonies is ideal for exploring by foot. And the facility is near the walking trail to Middle Amana. These are all huge plusses.

The check-in process could be more honest. We arrived a few minutes ahead of the 'STRICTLY ADHERRED TO 3 P.M. check-in hour. I wish we had been told that this is their corporate policy that no one gets in early rather than being told a fib about rooms not being ready. This simply wasn't true. And if this is going to be your practice, then I would suggest a first come, first serve policy rather than the last people to arrive were given room keys first while we were waiting and waiting and waiting. Lying to your guests is not a good practice. Also sad to me personally that the old woolen mills store no longer exists. Had I known, I would not have stayed here.

I like the layout and decor of the hotel. The rooms are large and the beds are very comfortable. All the staff are very kind and helpful. Love the location in the Amana Colonies. Very close to a brewery and restaurants.

The room was very clean The bed was very comfortable. The bath shower gel bottle was empty The staff was very friendly. Funny how trip advisor never mentioned the train. LOL.

We were absolutely thrilled with our accommodations, amenities, and overall experience (it was so much more than just a stay) at the Millwright! It was delightful. The Millwright itself is steeped in history, as is the surrounding village. It was an absolute treat to stay there! Can’t say enough about the friendly staff! They were welcoming & so helpful. Our room was spacious, sparkling clean, cozy bed with luxurious linens and fab shower! It is a must stay! We can’t stop talking about it! We loved walking about the village as well. Filled with quaint shops, wineries, and delicious eateries. You must stay here. Ranks as one of the very best hotels we’ve ever stayed in here in the U.S. or abroad!

Excellent

We arrived at 8 pm on Sunday night, so didn't get to experience much. We were set to golf the next morning and weather took a turn, so didn't spend much time around town or the hotel. I can tell you Millwright is just what I expected from a Mill. Our suite was a great size for four women. The living area was spacious, but could have used one more chair for four guests. The bedroom area was spacious and beds comfortable. The bathroom was great for all of us.

We moved a chair and we had a big spider. We proceeded to kill it and all of a sudden spider babies came out of the mother and we had them everywhere. We proceeded to kill as many as we could. My suggestion, in the fall I would double check the rooms for spiders or just automatically spray the rooms.
