The Old Bakery Hotel

Stopped here for a drink early evening whilst in Kenilworth. Very busy with a nice vibe. Friendly staff. We stood outside as did many others but unfortunately it started to rain so we moved on, though others went inside.

Welcoming and efficient staff. Spotlessly clean. Three rooms booked - all met a high standard. Tasty breakfast cooked to order. Stylish accommodation in an historic setting. Central although in the old town . Highly recommend this niche hostelry.

Made a weekend break out of visiting the motor museum and then Kenilworth Castle. Had already researched and knew that The Old Bakery had parking to the rear, but they’re not the easiest spots to get into! Hotel reception was a hatch to the side of the bar … but this meant we were blocking the corridor to pub guests and staff as we checked in. Our room at the very far end of the building I wasn’t hugely impressed by. Whilst a decent size it smelt musty and had flies / bugs on ceilings and walls. It was dark as only had a small window looking out onto the carpark and the windowsill was dirty. The bathroom was in no way modern. Scalloped toilet seat and sink, tiles from the 90s. The sign above the hot tap “caution very hot water” was a lie as it only managed luke warm at best. Plus the towels were scratchy and dry. But … there was bottled water and biscuits! The pub / bar is lovely. We had a pre dinner drink and that's where breakfast was served. Breakfast was fine … Annoyance was the amount of people thinking they were open for coffees / breakfast to the general public and coming in only to be turned away. Suggested locking the door but that didn’t deter people trying and getting very confused. Maybe a big sign needed? Sorry, but I wouldn’t stay here again, it just wasn’t worth the money.

Stayed here for 1 night before a graduation ceremony at Warwick University and it was fine, however the family room for 3 of us was pretty small and unfortunately they weren't serving food on a Monday night. We did however have a nice meal down the high street at the queen & castle. Parking is limited & there's restrictions on the road if the small car park is full. Breakfast was generous & overall the cost was reasonable value for money.

Great friendly helpful staff breakfast great. Great atmosphere in the bar. Rooms comfortable . Great part of the old town and walking distance to town centre . Castle walking distance and plenty pubs and restaurants

Excellent hotel and pub! What can I say… the ambience and atmosphere in the pub is the best in kenilworth and the staff are delightful! It’s a wonderful family owned business and you can tell they care about everything they do! The quality and care taken in service and their offering is second to none! No wonder it’s always so busy! The hotel rooms are quaint and well appointed. The breakfast is superb and included in the room rate. Parking around the back is available or if not, then the abbey fields park has a large carpark just a minute walk from the pub. We always recommend our friends and family stay here and enjoy great hospitality. They don’t serve evening meals but that’s not a problem with Harringtons and the cross just a short walk away. AAAAA*****!

I have been visiting the Old Bakery for many years. It has always been a pleasant experience. Quintessential English hostelry. Friendly staff and customers, in a very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, located in the attractive older part of the town. It’s a pleasure to sit outside on a bench with a pint on a fine summer evening. Pity it rained on St. Swithin’s Day! Our cycling group are always made welcome and enjoy the Wye Valley HPA! Always an interesting range of well kept real ales, lagers, and an extensive gin selection. Only 5 minutes walk to Abbey Fields with lake, leading to Kenilworth Castle (English Heritage). Historic Warwick is only around 4 miles away. It’s a great location! There are ample cafes, restaurants and shops in the main town, about 15 minutes walk away. Public parking available at Abbey Fields nearby. The award winning Old Bakery is the best pub in Kenilworth, in my humble opinion!

Our first visit and we would definitely stay again. Convenient for the University of Warwick, with a frequent bus service right on to the campus. Room, bed and free breakfast were lovely. There is some on-site parking and a large reasonably priced car park close by. The bar is open to the public and closes at 10.30, but hotel guests can take drinks to their rooms until 11.00.
