ISLAND HOMESTAY TIỀN GIANG

Lovely location on a small island in the Mekong river, easily accessible on a regular ferry and we were met by the super smiling host at the island. His food was delicious, and you eat it on a nice, well lit boat on the river, access is by a floating walkway. We stayed one night. The rooms were large, clean, and comfortable. I was woken early as the neighbours were playing their television around 5am this may not always be the case .altogether a super stop.

Very peaceful location on the Mekong river Island. The host and his wife picked us up at the ferry stop and after our two nights stay dropped us off as well. During the stay we ate all our meals cooked by host wife and the taste was amazing. Also they organised a private river tour for us which was very nice- away from all the crowds. We also used bicycles for free to explore the Island and the city nearby.

Jang was very welcoming and helpful, which made the long-winded route getting there worth while. We only had one night there on route to Can Tho and didn't realize the main bus station was a long way out of town, which requires a transit vehicle to the boat ferry then a ferry across to the island. Jang and his wife kindly picked us up on motorbikes when we arrived. Despite the journey there, we're pleased for the experience of life on the murky mekong! We stayed inside their home upstairs as the garden room wasn't available. Very basic but adequate and clean. Jang gave us pushbikes to use which was a great way to see the small island and to cross back over to the mainland to get cash for the homestay payment. We shared a delicious meal that evening for 250, 000 dong and nice breakfast before our departure. Jang made sure we connected again with the transit vehicle the next morning. Overall a memorable experience!

If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City, take refuge here. You will be reminded of that as the owner of this place will remind you to have faith in people. You will get a glimpse of everyday life in Vietnam along with delicious food.

Great host and our room with a view over the river enabled us to be immersed in the river’s rhythm of life.

The host Jang is incredibly accommodating! When we checked in we were presented with tea and exotic fruits. The bikes he provided let us explore My Tho easily. Breakfast and lunch were both delicious (remember to ask in advance for veggie options). Room was ideal with a lovely view. Jang helped us book our bus tickets on our way back to HCMC. The whole time he was smoking- such a lovely bloke! Thank you Jang and family for hosting!

We are so glad we stayed here! You get a real taste of local island life and can explore by bike (provided) or foot. It's easy to get to (the ferry from Mỹ Tho only takes a few minutes and runs non stop from 5am to 10pm, outside those times there are private boats that will take you across) yet we saw no other tourists while we were there. This family house is right on the waterfront and our room with private bathroom had a great view of the river, as did the dining area. Everything was very clean and we always felt safe. Good air conditioning and WiFi, with (allergy friendly) meals and drinks readily available. The two rooms with balconies are next to each other up a staircase so a larger group can easily spread across the two. Likewise the garden view rooms are next to each other downstairs. Very kind and responsive host with excellent English, he and his wife picked us up from the ferry (a short scooter ride or walk to the accommodation) and also booked our bus to Ho Chi Minh City, including coming with us to make sure we caught it ok!

I highly recommend it. The place is located on an interesting island to visit and it is easy to access to it with the ferry going back and forth every 5 min. We have spent a wonderful time at this homestay ; the owner is the kindest host you will ever meet. The room is clean and well furnished. You can borrow bikes for free if you need them.

Sometimes when travelling you end up in a place where everything seems to come together. This is such a place. Located on an island in the Mekong, close to the city of My Tho (just take a ferry, it costs only 2000 dong per person and goes about every ten minutes) but away from all the noise and hassle. On top of that, not only is it the only homestay on the island, it is the only whateverstay on the island. There are no other hotels, appartments, guesthouses or homestays. It's just a small Vietnamese village. If you want to live Vietnam style, this is it. Chuong, the owner, is a warm, welcoming, enthusiastic and helpfull owner, you can ask him anything. Communication was fluid and easy. There are no real restaurants on the island but do yourself a favour and eat with the family. The meals, cooked by his wife are probably the best you will eat on your travel through Vietnam. Our room overlooked the Mekong river and was spacious, had airco, a large bed and a desk. We had a clean private bathroom. And our room had a terrace from where we could watch the sunset. Or walk 2 minutes to the tip of the island for even more perfection. We rented a scooter to disover the other islands and even Ben Tre. Ask Chuong for directions. This is just the perfect spot! We felt sorry we had to leave, we could have stayed here for ages.
